I posted this here because the "speculation" thread is a bunch of silliness. I personally would love a Charlie Strong hire. That being said, with our resources, what recruits would we be in on, or possibly be able to sway before signing day.

Also, if Strong were to come, would you like the idea of keeping Chaney and the offensive staff? Obviously we can put up points. I also think him and Hinshaw would take Florida over. You've seen what Strong can do with Florida talent on defense.

If Strong comes he has a good receivers coach who played at FSU and recruits Fla very well.I thank Gardner is his name.

I had previously believed that Louisville would match any strong offer. However, tonight I am hearing from Louisville boosters that one more year from Strong is all they expect.

Hinshaw is a great recruiter. I would love for him to stay, and he will given a chance. He has 2 daughters in high school now and he probably would not want to relocate them at least until they are out of high school.:good!:

real talk, I would love a Charlie Strong hire, would love his connections to FL. and the defensive mind he would bring to our team....god knows we need it. :)

Charlie Strong and Larry Fedora are probably the two most reasonable expectations at this point and both would do a good job at Tn. Two other possibilities would be Gary Patterson and Tommy Tuberville, even though both would be harder to pull away from their current positions. ! expect an announcement will be made by the 10th of Dec.

I agree on Strong but given our recruiting failure can't understand the love for Hinshaw. He must bare some of the responsibility as RC and besides his resume sucks.

Sorry if I sound ignorant here, but can someone explain why Strong would immediately help recruiting? His recruiting classes at Louisville have been pretty subpar especially this year.

Louisville is not a big name destination school for recruits like Tennessee. They don't compare fan-wise, nor do they have the facilities and the tradition.

Hinshaw was the QB coach.... He coached Bray . Check
Then moved to receivers--- Hunter and Patterson. Check

A far as recruiting, he is doing good recruiting under the current and previous circumstances. What recruit would want to come here not knowing if the coach is going to be here next year or not. It is also hard to recruit when the school has a losing record 2 years in a row, and not going to a bowl game.

Hire a good coach, and Hinshaw's job will become much easier.

He is from FL and can pull the good FL recruits given the chance.

I'm not in the know or anything like that, but I'm hearing a rumor of a Charlie Strong interview today. Has anyone else heard this? Maybe there was something on VN about it that I missed.

Its time to move on to a new era of UT football. With the exception of Graham and maybe Pittman, its time to move on.
