Charlie Strong-RECRUITING

I posted this here because the "speculation" thread is a bunch of silliness. I personally would love a Charlie Strong hire. That being said, with our resources, what recruits would we be in on, or possibly be able to sway before signing day.

Also, if Strong were to come, would you like the idea of keeping Chaney and the offensive staff? Obviously we can put up points. I also think him and Hinshaw would take Florida over. You've seen what Strong can do with Florida talent on defense.

Strong...is that your HUGE hire...

I personally really like Strong. I like his demeanor and the intense attitude he has would seem to be a HUGE intangible asset we have lacked with DD's sometimes lackluster sideline prowess. He seems like a pretty straight shooter and a BIG TIME "players coach" and I believe he will do well with many recruits bc of this. When I say that I think of all of the reports coming out of Dooley's reputation as smug and stuck up and the fact that we have many recruits and HC's in and around the state of Tennessee making statements of such. Also MANY of those same recruits (most 4*) have publicly stated that they would be willing to talk seriously with the UT's new HC(no matter if Gruden) bc anyone, to them, would have to have a less rigid approach. Strong appears to have a ton of emotion and connection with his kids...as I see him during games on the sideline. In fact, to win 10 games(or the majority of scheduled games) with ANY TEAM IN THE WORLD, I don't care what sport, the HC must have some very deep impact on his players. All these things are things we need and have been lacking and you can see it with DD's 3yr record and Strongs record period. NOW I'M NOT SAYING STRONG IS THE BEST OR MOST QUALIFIED nor the only coach to possess these traits, BUT... He appears to have the all intangible qualities a team NEEDS for a winning attitude and building team chemistry.

The 3 previous recruiting classes before Strong arrived at UL averaged 55th in the nation, since Strong arrived they average 29th in the nation. The 3 previous classes before Strong arrived UL signed 1 5* & 4 4*, since Strong arrived they have signed 10 4*. Strong singed the highest ranked class in UL history, I think it was 23rd overall. AT LOUISVILLE!

In 2011 his recruiting class was ranked #33 by scout and #29 by rivals...In 2012 it was #42 by scout and #42 by rivals...In 2013 it is ranked # 68 by scout and #73 by rivals at this time. He could do better @ Tenn. but I do not know how much better!

Lol, how hard is it to comprehend that it is unreasonable to expect even the best recruiter to blow his conference out of the water in recruiting. He has consistently been at the top of his conference though despite the fact that he is in a state with very little talent.

GO BACK AND READ MY POST AGAIN. I said he would do better @ Tenn. Strong is a good coach but his recruiting has not been that great! We are going to need some top 10 classes and I have not seen anything to make me believe he can do it!

He already interviewed yesterday my friend. We're hoping skeeter gets some news on how it went this morning. Also rumored that Hart interviewed Fedora yesterday. Hubbs could only confirm the Strong interview. :good!:

Fedora is one guy with smart I see mentioned that I do not want. Tech scored about 70 on them. Sounds alot like what we have had. He would be better than CDD but not by enough to warrant a hire.

the best thing for Hart to do is follow the UM and CCS blueprint with Hurtt....don't talk to CCH about Hurtt's business

Well let me clarify. The question I want to know is how clear is he from the Miami scandal? Sanctions pending or a show cause? I ain't stupid, everybody's got a bag man. :eek:lol:

He has beaten out teams like USC, Auburn, Clemson, and Miami for recruits at Louisville. He has strong ties to Florida, and has been successful in North Carolina and Virginia as well. Strong is by far the most likely candidate to bring in top 10 classes.

He landed Top 150 guys like Bridgewater, K Brown, Michael Harris, Gerrod Holliman, Eli Rogers in Fla and Dominique Brown, Nick Dawson from Va and NC. He's classes have averaged 9 players from Fla and 6 from strong recruiting grounds Ga and OH per cycle.

When CCS was at UF he went into UM strong holds like BTW, Southridge,Dunbar and STA a took players. He started the Lakeland and Armwood pipeline. Remember when he left Jeff Luc committed to FSU. J Jenkins, Bostic and Major Wright all say they came to UF bc of CCS.

To sum it up it's not a better recruiter in Central and SoFla than CCS. It L'ville can get Sfla kids then UT would get their share with Strong. He also knows how important it is to get guys from Car and DMV.

This is why I have been big on Strong all along. He will get the high caliber athletes without a doubt. We all know when he has a roster of 4 and 5* defensive players how good of a defense he can coach......lights out.

Look...if Charlie Strong was to come to Tennessee and where orange pants then folks would be able to where these t-shirts again instead of giving them to Goodwill...

This, if Chaney will commit to running the ball more. There were a couple of times (Florida, Miss St.) when I thought we got away from the run too quick. It virtually disappeared from our play calling. Really, this is the only criticism I have of the Offense, this year. It was a complete turn around from the year before. I credit Pittman and Graham for that mostly, but the whole offensive team seemed to jell well.

If Chaney stays I hope he gets away from get it all at once attitude. What I'm trying to say is hopefully he teaches his qb to operate a drive and stop trying to go deep on every play. We need a balanced offense that can run about 80 plays a game.

Does nobody understand how hard it is to recruit to louisville? They are a bball school with a tiny stadium, fair-weather fans who show up late and leave early at games. The city is dirty and there is not much to do as compared to other places. They just recently got there conference situation figured out which was also hurting recruiting. He would do great recruiting to UT.

As a current Louisville resident, I take offense to that. The city is actually quite thriving and very nice outside of the western portion. The facilities are actually top notch, and their AD is far superior to anyone we've had sniff that position in recent years. That being said, UL is in a dying conference, and it makes sense for Strong to jump to a program with tradition and eventual upside. I'm impressed with what he's done at Louisville, and I think he can do even better at UT given time and the program name recognition we have here.

Besides, you live in Southern Indiana. When I first moved to Louisville, the first thing everyone ever told me was not to believe or respect anyone from Southern IN. lol

JMO he should have been a HC long before L'ville but his ego early on and "other" things stopped him from mid-level jobs. L'ville was a blessing for both sides...he got his chance at a BCS school and l'ville became a good program again. I'll root for CCS at UT except for the 3rd game of the year. Gotta beat that azz :)

That's what every Florida fan I know says about him to me. But it'll be fun to watch him use Bonner and Gray at CB.

I almost moved to Louisville for business. Heard it's money being made up there.

I'd say that's a pretty accurate assessment..at least in the legal field where I'll be come May. My buddies at other law schools are having difficulty securing employment, but my class (myself included) is having a pretty high level of success.

IMO

Chollie made the best move by NOT taking Mid level jobs.

He waited for Best opportunity to win games and build his resume.

Most black head coaches dont have that luxury but his SEC built reputation afforded him that luxury

Strong played the game by his rules and seems to be winning

I'm afraid he would never get the time needed from our fan base.

That forum will not support anyone except Jon Gruden. They've worked themselves up into a rabid state. I can understand some of their frustration. I really wanted Gruden b/c of the instant credibility he would add. I don't want to discount Strong though. He's a serious upgrade in my eyes.

This is my problem with Hart not dispelling the "Grumors" early if he knew it wasn't happening. Hell, even if he was 99% certain he would hire Gruden, the problem is that the "rockstar" hire going bad makes all the other candidates seem bland, average, etc... even though there are still some damn good coaches around.

What part of L'ville do you live in?
