So, it's not wrong. It's... What? Inadvisable? It's the equivalent of a dog circling repeatedly before pooping? The lessons learned form tens of thousands of years of human evolution dictate it.
That and natural animal instinct.
Sure, what was once wrong can now be okay and what is okay today may at some point be wrong. (but the vast majority of "moral" wrongs have stayed relatively consistent over the millennia. I see no problem with that.
There are rumors Kirk spurned Israel and walked away from big money donations so as not to be associated with them. I've the last month of his life. If that's true this is a kick in the face to his legacy.
I specifically said it was wrong - with no need for any idiotic qualifiers. So, it's not wrong. It's... What? Inadvisable? It's the equivalent of a dog circling repeatedly before pooping?
And also, it's dependent on time and public opinion. Let's not forget that.
I've never once cared about my status here on VN.I suspect that you're not building your status here of VN Moral Guru Thought Leader. I really want you to do well in this upcoming VN poll. You may want to work on those answers.
For those of us that believe...
Corinthians 5:8......To be absent from the body is to go and be with the Lord.
Why was it a good year? These are the good old days to you, based on your age, but what would be the argument for it being a good year?
Foreign policy = we were in the middle of the cold war and an actual war with conscription. . Agree. I mentioned Viet Nam. I was personally opposed to the war, and did not use my college deferment in 1971 or 72(age 19). My birthday was #130. They got to 109 in my county.
Economy = We were on the verge of stagflation. In 1970 we didn't know that.
Politically = We were a divided country. Lots of political violence. It was the war. People had turned against it, National Guard killed 4 students in Ohio.
Crime = Was really bad. Violent crime was skyrocketing compared to the previous decade. I don't recall crime, but I graduated from HS in June, and lived in a town with almost no crime. Yeah the 70s is when crime really increased.
I see the Vols were 11-1 in 1970. That's pretty good. Ugh, Bill Battle after Doug Dickey. Two decent guys. Hated Dickey for leaving.
This. What happens two counties away, you better believe someone will try it in a district near youI disagree completely, it's called normalization. Things tend to become standardized and applicable across districts school boards over time.
And while I'd concede at least some of the obsession is over the top, to pretend parents shouldn't care or concern themselves at all is an even more ridiculous position than obsession over it.
Parents should never be shut out of, or short circuited in the development of their children and what they are exposed to. We've conceded way too much to government.
I was a little kid in the 70s, but I can remember things always getting bombed in Europe… the IRA, the Lebanese people, the cult of the week on the news, the Ayatollah..and we only had 3 channels.. you would think my parents would have like shut that offThe 70's had alot of anti-right, anti-machine hate groups going on. Weather Underground, Black Panthers, New World Liberation Front, Symbionese Liberation Army and a host of others that did alot of bombing.
