The first amendment only protects individuals from government infringement. So I’d guess that the DoD SM review will likely get shot down unless the government can prove somehow that exercising one’s right about an individual not in their chain of command breaks any UCMJ laws or regulations.

Now as many are finding out via their fairly rapid dismissals from their jobs or other appointments the first amendment doesn’t provide cover against private entities from taking actions.

I think this is a unique situation.

A man was killed at free speech event where an exchange of different ideas and views were encouraged to be discussed. The epitome of The First Amendment.

I’m not familiar which social media platforms that you use, but I never seen the numbers of people justifying and celebrating the death of someone. It’s insane how many teachers, nurses, doctors, business owners, police officers, and military personnel have posted their celebration or justification of a murder.

Ok. My comments were just about the fairly broad review of the DoD on SM of those serving as related to 1A and also invoking 1A on these campus exchanges. I don’t think the government has a leg to stand on there however as many are finding out they are fair game for their employers. Self inflicted moronic consequences as far as I’m concerned there too.

I’m not familiar with another high profile assassination or murder that military members celebrated or justified. I’m sure they were a few members of the military that have done it in the past and should be discharged.

Maybe you can point to one?

OK, I gotcha. Do you believe that the countries that have a historical cultural founding in Christianity are or are not a net benefit to world? And do you believe they would be better or worse off with no religious affiliation and henceforth no objective morality?

How many military members have been "celebrating" it? I have seen a number of posts that right wingers have claimed were "celebrating" but weren't actually celebrating. In this forum anyway

Well, that’s a fairly ambiguous qualification. What countries in your mind have a cultural founding in Christianity?

I can go ahead and answer the second part of your question now, because the stipulation that religion and morality are synonymous is false. A country doesn’t have to be tied to religion to have morals.

But I know you're too lazy and really don't care to know what he stood for.

Would it be more beneficial for yourself and everyone else to go do the work that would support an informed opinion, and then jump back in the discussion?
