Ya know I have to say after seeing a bit more about that guy if you mean the guy at start that appeared to be celebrating, I think he's just not all there. Like maybe the elevator is short a few floors. I think he genuinely was a fan of Kirk, but he just processes the world in a very different way then the rest of us.
