Hey Guys, with all the road closings for construction, does anyone know if they will be changing the route of the Vol Walk? Also, if they are changing it, have you heard where the pep band will be. When I was up there Sunday, Phillip Fulmer was closed at Peyton Manning. Thanks:)

drove by there last night... the crane is gone, and it looks like they're cleaning up Phillip Fulmer Way...

Gameday changes announced by UT GoVolsXtra
Beginning with the Vols home opener on Sept. 5, the “Vol Walk” start time has been moved closer to kick-off to allow more fans the opportunity to experience the tradition and create more excitement closer to kick-off for fans and players. The “Vol Walk”, which will start one hour and 45 minutes before kick-off, will begin at the Torchbearer, the official symbol of the University, head down Peyton Manning Pass and continue on Phillip Fulmer Way to Gate 21A.

Thanks for the info - this is one of my favorite things about game day, but I sometimes miss is when I'm having my pregame meal. I'm glad they've moved it a little closer to game time.

When they said that it will start at the torch, that is just where the "Vol Walk" banner will be right? I'm not sure how they could fit everyone in there from the torch down anyways.

They just say that is basically where the beginning of the big crowd starts. They always start walking to the stadium from the Neyland Thompson practice facility.

Heard it explained that Kiffin and company wanted the Vol Walk moved closer to kickoff because they didn't want the players in the lockerroom sitting around not doing anything for an inordinate amount of time like in years previous.

I will have to say I have been very well pleased with this coaching staffs attention to details. Been a breath of fresh air.

Not as pissed as I am about the drop in membership.

What has been the change? Link? One of my favorite things is that the size hasn't changed since I went to my first game 19 years ago. They'd have a hard time figuring out the circle drill with a different number of bandmembers.

There hasn't been a change in policy, just a change in interest. As of last report, the band has 20-30 fewer members this year than last. This despite the most active recruiting that has ever been done. A lot of high schools all over the country are dropping band, which is leading to drops in band membership all over the country.

On top of that, some current and recent Pride members became fed up with the associate director (me included). It's tough to show respect to someone for whom you have absolutely no respect.
