Overdramatic much. Butch had 2 squads that with competent coaching should have been in the SEC Champ game. BUTCH JONES of all people. If he is able to assemble a team that has the talent to compete then we can compete for trophies with the right coach. Commitment and coaching, we have everything else.

Unfortunately we can't sign 32 players in a class anymore to accelerate the process.

Sorry, we don't have enough linemen on either side to compete for a championship right now. It was men against boys. They overpowered the defensive line, Fromm had all night and picked the defense apart. I did see a dead, lifeless team turn into a team with some juice.

KPD? Are you suggesting the police should look the other way on player's crimes to help the football team?
KPD was powerless. A JUDGE issued a warrant for Banks' arrest, for failure to appear, on a daggone U-turn, and driving on suspended/revoked. Then he gets loud and nasty with cops, which makes it to the net. Never should have been on the net. Hate TMZ!!! Then he gets physical with a female. Dude's got serious issues. And screw TMZ!

Why the hate towards TMZ? They only broadcast what is SENT to them. Kid deserved to be shamed nationally for acting like that, it will end up helping him get the help he needs unlike being enabled as idiot Tennessee fans want to do.

If anyone can’t see the improvement between last year and this year they don’t know football. Our offensive line is 100% better. Our defense is much improved and will get better. (We have to help the pass rush with more blitzing). I saw guys in place to make plays. Even one GA TD Alonte has great position and missed knocking the ball away by inches.

We have a lot of freshmen and sophomores starting. We were very competitive for well over a half with possibly the best team in the land led by a 3 year starting QB.

We missed a FG that gave GA field position and time to score right before half. We were in position to score and had a fumble returned for a TD. The final score could have been much closer.

I’m encouraged and we will end the season a much better team.

I saw nothing tonight to make me think next year will be any different. 2 different kinds of athletes on the field tonight. 2 different prepared teams. 2 different kinds of execution. Too many lost battles one on one by our skill players. Too many lost battles on the field in general. The talent committing is still a grade below the talent committing to UGA, UF, UA, Bama, LSU, Clemson... etc... etc... We are no better off now than when Dooley was here. Hate to be a Debbie Downer, but that is the reality as I see it. Y'all may disagree, and I hope I'm wrong.
I don't think any of our QB's are second string on any of the aforementioned teams. Nor any of our RB's. Nor our receivers. Maybe Juann. Maybe some of our O linemen and a few defensive backs. Our freshmen LB's are going to great one day though.
Until the entire community of Knoxville get committed to having a winning program it won't happen. I mean everyone. KPD, the media, the business owners, the teachers, the public and most of all THE MEDIA (especially the sports media). Until everyone decides they are going to help recruit, retain, and help the players coming in we will continue lose the recruiting battles. There is a toxic environment in K town right now towards the program and it shows. It is hostile and it isn't just on the coaches or the AD. It's on the entire town.

Use the Bama model, where the whole state is in on the charade. Works for them.. Tennessee isn't quite that broke though. They don't depend on their state football team to pull them out of the red. That's big business down there. Not the same structure here, much more diverse..

These coaches should be ashamed of the product that they put on the field, getting lined up and substituting are learned in middle school, but in Pruitt's 2nd year, Tennessee looks uncoached, unbelievable really

How many on this staff has any meaningful Head coaching experience to learn how to maintain order, control and discipline? This is not a cop out or carrying water for Pruitt its just the way it is. For the record I do not think Pruitt is the "chosen one" and I expect him to last no more than 3 years, BUT some of his defecencies can be explained and expected. It seems to me Fulmer is just about the only contestant in this dog and pony show that has the experience and he was gawd awful at the discipline phase of his job. I would expect the only real help he could offer is Issacs phone number and the address to the nearest Shoney's
So Pruitt assembled an SEC experienced staff, of which everyone is terrible at controlling and disciplining?

Why not you become a fan of Alabama or Georgia Oh, I get it they will likely play each otherin the SECCG and one of them will lose I don't think you could stand pulling for one of them and were beaten by the other one.

Because their sole purpose is to tear down anyone who has made a mistake. Of course, some people/posters live for those occasions

The Vols got off track years ago by grabbing what ever coach was available who "looked" good. When a coaching change is made, it's usually at the end of the season, which means recruiting is right around the bend....so there is a need to hire a coach to get started recruiting. The whole down fall of the program IMO, is because there is not always that great top tiered coach available at the same small window that you need one...so we grab the best rookie coach we can and cross our fingers. How can you blame the KPD,teachers, business, citizens, fans i/e everyone for being able to hire a seasoned top level coach in a few weeks window? If you glean over the 1 billion threads on this subject since Dooley was hired, and compare the names of coaches who we"let get away" and look at their record today, they are all Doooley/Butch clones but at different schools. And kicking a guy off the team is an individual basis type thing, based on what they done, is it a recurring type thing getting in trouble. I think you have to draw the line somewhere to set standards for the rest of the team. Talking about shooting cops is crossing that line.

I'm still willing to give Pruitt a chance. However, from what I've seen so far this season I still don't see him as the answer long term as our head coach. There are still 7 games left. Tennessee would need to win 5 of the last 7 to show that they are making progress. Very doubtful that we do that but it is possible.

Firing a coach after 2 seasons is not unheard of. Memphis did it to Larry Porter. Since that firing Memphis has improved greatly. Houston just fired Major Applewhite after 2 winning seasons. Which was strange. But the administration did not like the 70-14 bowl loss to Army last year and went out and supposedly upgraded by hiring Holgorsen. If Pruitt wins less than 5 games as head coach this year it will be really hard to justify keeping him. If we do fire him then we will have no choice but to actually go after and hire a big name coach this time around.

We need to eventually get to a point where we don't just steal games from Georgia, Florida and Bama. But we have to be beating them on a regular basis. Florida went 9-1 against us this decade. Georgia 8-2. Bama is of course undefeated against us since Saban has been there. That cannot continue into the next decade if this program is to be successful.

Those programs weren't paying buy-outs for 10yrs straight. You believe a legitimate coach will come to TN if we fire Pruitt after 2yrs after that disaster of a search and national embarrassment along with everyone in the coaching industry KNOWING that Pruitt inherited a flaming pile of dog crap?

That's the genius plan, fire him and start over again? The roster is already below the max scholarship limit. Signing limitations are in effect. Firing Pruitt results in the young, and only good, players on the roster leaving along with torpedoing another recruiting class. Don't forget that we will then have an entire new offense and defense to learn, along with a new s&c program. Consider that this year is the first time that any player on our roster has had the same S&C coach for 2 consecutive yrs.

Yea... no

That's not what he is saying.. Let me ask you this.. Do you think if a young man within the football program at Bama UGA Clemson etc. had an outstanding citation resulting in a warrant for their arrest that their would be immediate communication to the AD?? Just curious and be honest

Are you serious? You think the KPD should notify the AD when an athlete has a outstanding citation? What about the other 25,000+ students at UT? Who should the KPD notify when they have an outstanding citation? The UT President? The Chancelor? The Student Dorm Mother? Or are you suggesting that athletes should receive preferential treatment by law enforcement that is not provided to any other resident of Knoxville. I say bullsh!t, other people, young and old, have to tend to these matters themselves as should prima donna football players. Geesh !!!

I don’t drink. I’m just saying that is the price that has to be payed to compete for championships. Either K-town has what it takes to win or it doesn’t. You can fire and hire 100 coaches and it won’t change the fact. Also, have you ever noticed that when players or coaches leave Knoxville, they almost always do better? Even our good players do better.

Majors didn't win a game as a HC after Tennessee, nor did Fulmer. Or Dooley, or Jones. Kiffin hasn't won a game as a Power 5 HC.

I think it is fair to say if most arresting cops called the AD they would be screened by the gate keeper and would not get the AD directly on the phone. If they left a number and message the AD might call the Chief of Police and if the story got out to the press most of John Q Public would be mad at both the AD and the Chief of Police. I do think if the arresting officer called the Chief of Police they would also be screened in their office by the chiefs gatekeeper and told to follow the chain of command and just do their darn job. So in the end all the decision to proceed falls on the arresting officer in the field. If the cop cut the athlete a break and John Q Public found out they would be furious and the officer in the field would face police dept scrutiny and discipline. So is the cop going to waste his time in a no win situation waiting for all of this to play out, I wouldn't. Of course if they know Daniel Brown and call him he probably knows Phillips private number and could call. Again John Q Public would be mad if the story was let out to the general public via the media. If a cop or player called Brown I would bet he had better be a darn good friend of Brown to ask the favor.
