The discipline issues could be a sign that our staff lacks control and discipline over the program. We may actually have more problems because the staff is not up to running a major college football program

I'm sorry that football is more important to you than what's right. No one, no matter how talented they are at a sport, should have actual crimes swept under the rug. Just because it happens everywhere, including here, doesn't make it right.
Dude most of us are not advocating for looking the other way to crime..

It was a blow out nothing more or nothing less. We had an over confident team on the ropes and then they woke up.

Yeah.. I'm not endorsing corruption.. frankly I'm just pointing out what would be competent oversight.. the scales of justice being tipped by money is the reality of the world we live in and I can assure that in Columbus Ohio, Tuscaloosa AL, Athens GA, etc. that there is not that level of disconnect between the community and the school

And all of those schools have been in or won the college football playoffs recently.

I think the overall talent is below average across the roster, but I think it is abysmal on D-Line. If we could simply get a couple of guys who could play average on that unit I would be happy. It affects the whole defense when the QB has 10 seconds to throw and the RB gets 5 yard chunks every run.

If we can recruit well at that position and Mauer plays decently, I could see us beating a team like GA state and technically be better than this year.

There is a reason for that consistency.. investment in the program and it's not just money.. everyone pulling in the same direction

I saw nothing tonight to make me think next year will be any different. 2 different kinds of athletes on the field tonight. 2 different prepared teams. 2 different kinds of execution. Too many lost battles one on one by our skill players. Too many lost battles on the field in general. The talent committing is still a grade below the talent committing to UGA, UF, UA, Bama, LSU, Clemson... etc... etc... We are no better off now than when Dooley was here. Hate to be a Debbie Downer, but that is the reality as I see it. Y'all may disagree, and I hope I'm wrong.
I don't think any of our QB's are second string on any of the aforementioned teams. Nor any of our RB's. Nor our receivers. Maybe Juann. Maybe some of our O linemen and a few defensive backs. Our freshmen LB's are going to great one day though.
Until the entire community of Knoxville get committed to having a winning program it won't happen. I mean everyone. KPD, the media, the business owners, the teachers, the public and most of all THE MEDIA (especially the sports media). Until everyone decides they are going to help recruit, retain, and help the players coming in we will continue lose the recruiting battles. There is a toxic environment in K town right now towards the program and it shows. It is hostile and it isn't just on the coaches or the AD. It's on the entire town.
Honest question, what did you expect?

We are playing one if the best teams in the nation. QB play was much better, but you couldn't possibly expect a true freshman to win this game?

I have my serious doubts as to Pruitt being the guy, but you can't put this on him. No one expected us to be competitive in this one. Let's see how this team and QB do against miss st, USC, UAB, etc

Where did all that come from. I saw reasons for optimism tonight. A team that fights and can hold their heads up. I don't expect us to compete for championships anymore, those days are gone.

Well, the teams we are competing against aren’t playing by the same rules. So stop the bitching when we lose because of a talent discrepency. And for crying out loud quit blaming it all on the coaches. He can’t be blamed for the community scaring recruits away.

Respectfully disagree. Not one of those schools have been in the shape we are currently in. Ever

Nothing we can say will change your mind. Frankly, I don't blame you. Team has regressed this year.

We have a lot of people here saying it's going to be a five year rebuild. That would be easier to stomach with an experienced HC.

As of now, we are relying on a guy that we just don't really know how he will do.

He may suck. He may be good.

Regardless, it sucks it's going to take years to find out.

This is truth from Captain Gump.. Who in here wants to give a probability on a kid like Jeremy Banks of how likely he is to be incarcerated within the next 3 to 5 years of his life?? Would he be better off in the program where men are at least trying to steer him in the right direction?? Which scenario is better for society in general??

You’re right it’s not getting any better. But you undersold the fact that it’s progressively getting worse. The incoming class is about the worst we’ve ever seen. Unless Pruitt could all of the sudden make the biggest recruiting push ever. And so far Pruitt this staff has not proven to be amazing recruiters. They’ve won a few battles but nowhere near enough to close the gap and the most troubling thing is it’s getting worse when they should do headed in the opposite direction having had a little time now

I don't think next year will be much better honestly. I expected that going in. I didn't expect this team to look as dysfunctional as it did coming out of the gates. We are in worse shape than I thought. I thought the defensive transfers and jucos could be serviceable. Unfortunately jucos are best utilized for depth but we needed starters and the transfer left because they weren't going to see the field for a reason. I'm happy to have him but he's mediocre.

Recruiting is on the coaches, the best players want to play for a winner typically, that's the challenge cause we don't have wins to sell them right now. So we have to flip the ones we can and plug away little by little. Even if everyone you listed above got on the sunshine pumper page it would help nothing.

According to Joe Vols and checkthetape, give the recruits carte blanche to do whatever they want with zero consequences. That'll get us back to the top

A lot of the toxicity is on this website. REcruits look at the fans and read what is posted about the players and see nothing but negativity. A good start would be to recognize we ARE rebuilding and we gave UGA a game for a half tonight. Glad to see them play hard and make UGA take notice for a while anyway.

If you burn more than one chance, especially when it comes to threats of violence against women, even the great Saban would have drawn the line. This kid has issues that require help beyond what football can offer. He has to make the choice to receive that help or it's useless.

One isolated incident and I agree with you. And I will also say that I really hope Banks sees the way he is living life is no path forward. But he had to go. No question

In general I agree with you 100 % but let me point out that you not anyone else no where the line is with Saban or a lot of other coaches.. there is above average chance that a lot of things happen there that are never known.. it is what it is
