Yea bc against bad teams Bray was throwing bombs...
Check the stats against the good teams we played that year... we couldn’t really run tge ball...
Chaney is average at best. Who couldn’t coach those players? Against UF Bray looked bad... oline sucked, and couldn’t run the ball..
It’s bc Chaney is too predictable and the D knows what’s comimg... imo
Man I get that you're mad about Chaney but at least three other people have already pointed out critcal flaws in your argument.
Chaney used Bray and play calls to flat out roast David Amerson at NC State. He was a Heisman candidate and the top corner in the nation before we played them in the chick fil a game. Amerson got owned by Chaney. Don't forget he makes the play calls. He torched him inside and out.
Even this year, Chaney is making good calls on plays. Some are predictable but its tough to make calls for different plays when your QB is not executing the ones you are calling currently. At times JG has held the ball way too long, other times he panics and throws off his back foot causing the ball to sail. OR he has played like David Carr for the raiders who seemingly will only throw to a flat out open WR. JG also doesnt seem to take any shots over the middle. so flats and go routes are your options. I would love to see more screens as I think we could get some mileage from them, but you have to stretch the field a little more and that requires more than a couple productive pass routes.
When youre regularly sitting at 3rd and long its tough to make creative play calls.
My point is a lot of the calls are pretty sound but come down to execution.
