Chaney interviewing with Rams?

What is the current status of his contract? Is he entering the last year or what?

Found this on GVLSXTRA. Not sure how accurate this is.
In August, offensive coordinator Jim Chaney's contract was extended through 2013. He made $525,000 in 2011 and is scheduled to make $550,000 in 2012 and $600,000 in 2013.

Like Wilcox, Chaney would be owed $1 million if fired before March 1, 2012. The buyout stipulated in his original contract that he be paid the monthy rate of his base pay (275,000) times the remaining months of the contract in two installments.

Chaney does not owe UT anything if he leaves for another job.

Last I heard, Wilcox was the only one with a multiyear contract other than the assistants we have brought in as replacements. I'll endeavor to dig up the article though.

Didn't Chaney start with a three year contract? And he has been here three years already, right? I'm thinking that he and Thompson (the Kiffin holdovers) had a year tacked on but I can't remember for sure?

Chaney is not the problem. I hope he stays and especially considering the next OC would probably change the offense... again.
Chaney is the problem and will be the reason Dooley is run out of town next year. The guy is clueless about in game adjustments.

Well, with your vast amount of knowledge in that area you should start a company that helps head coaches find adequate assistants when they are searching to make hires. You could make some good money.

I've never been in the "Chaney was the problem" camp.

Chaney is not the problem, if UT is 100 percent healthy and we can get the OLine to get even a decent push to help the passing game, we will be a force on offense.

All the naysayers will be more than content with the game he calls when all the pieces are healthy next year.

You're clueless.

Hard to make adjustments when you can't rely on your OLine to get enough of a push to take pressure off the passing game.

Or make adjustments when you're trotting out Matt Simms and the likes of Zac Rogers against the nations elite defenses week in and week out.

These aren't excuses, they're reasons.

Agree 100%.....I have said since day 1 that Chaney will cost Derrick Dooley his job. I sincerely hope I am wrong because I like Derrick Dooley ! Have said on many post that there was a reason Kiffin did not let Jim Chaney run his same two running plays time after time !

Chaney understands that football is a passing game. The rules are exponentially in favor of the forward pass it would be reckless to try and play 3 yards and cloud of dust football.

That is not to say that teams should not be strong n the ground. With a few changes and a RB who actually looks and feels for the hole, our running game will be much improved.

Still, do not expect to see the Vols look like a pedestrian Phil Fulmer or Les Miles offense any time soon.

I will say that Chaney is not afraid to step on the throat of the opponent to finish them off, where in the past we let teams get back in the game on us due to ultra-conservative play calling by Fulmer.

Chaney knows more offensive football than most all of these VN posters. He just needs the horses. We are acquiring a thoroughbred in Croom. We already had one that blew a tire (JH). DR may actually begin to mature as he is an upperclassman now. We are decent at TE. If he develops Bray into a first rounder, then it's case closed. But I believe in Chaney's track record already. The future is brighter than the past.

I like Chaney's down the field passing scheme better than Cut's dink and dunk but he has to find a way to run the ball better. Especially short yardage.

Dooley said they were going to look at making some changes in the blocking scheme, that should help the running game.
