I agree and wasn’t making the statement saying this team needed a moral victory. The conversation is about the weird CFP rankings. Most of the teams ahead of us in the rankings have lost to unranked teams. We had the team to win all 3 games we lost, so we get what we deserve for not getting the job done. But my statement is about the context of the thread.

How did Tennessee get “embarrassed” by the three losses. Missed beating UGA by a missed fg. Lost to OK by 6. Not sure how that’s embarrassing. Lost to Alabama on the road. Not embarrassing.

scoring 21 points in the first quarter and squandering it then your kicker missing a fg in front of the entire nation. embarrassing.

giving up a 99 yard pick 6 in front of the nation. embarrassing.

utterly dominating Oklahoma and still choking away the game. embarrassing.

three winnable games disappeared not because the other teams were good but because we blundered the games away and gifted them the wins.

Even if every one of those results came to pass, Tennessee still doesn’t get into the playoffs. Bama is in before TN, even if they lose to Auburn. If Notre Dame beats Stanford, Tennessee has no chance of getting in. The math doesn’t work. At this point, just beat Vandy, win the bowl to get to 10 wins, and get ready for next season.

At this point in the season, does it really matter that much where you are ranked if you aren't in a playoff slot or on the fringe? They are right about UT not being in the playoffs. I don't really care which non-playoff slot the Vols ultimately land at. Just win the games you have left.

If they make it a 64 team playoff, we'll spend a whole month having to talk about who is 65th and how deserving it is. 12 is already too many. Mediocre teams getting in that have no business at all wasting everybody's time. Potentially causing injuries for no reason to players that are actually good.

If somebody can foresee a way that the Vols might be let into the CFP, no matter how improbable, good for them. The task before our Vols is to defeat Vandy. Whatever awaits them afterwards will be revealed in time.

Vols fans… In the 5+ decades that I’ve been among the Big Orange faithful, the overall character of Vols fans has been one of good nature, generosity of spirit, and an unshakable support for the Vols, whatever the circumstances of the current teams.

Yes, the advent of Internet message boards and social media has fomented a lot of public handwringing and venting of fears, frustrations, and disappointments. Negavols are akin to people battling addictions and should be viewed and treated in similar fashion.

Ultimately I think this is where its headed. I have long maintained that 16 teams with no byes and top 8 hosting the bottom 8 in the first round is perfect.

Also, enough of the G5 nonsense! They DO NOT belong and should not be taking a spot from a P4 team! There needs to be a separate G5 playoff and championship game! It would be very entertaining and I would watch the hell out of it!

It’s looking like the Big Ten has been playing chess while the SEC is playing checkers.

All the bias seems to flow to the Big Ten and Notre Dame.
