CFP rankings- so weird

You're right, I just don't get the appeal of a sport to some of you guys that are negative 100% of the time, that's all.

Has nothing to do with the thread, so just carry on.
yeah I just dispute the notion that I'm negative 100% of the time. Before Tennessee's season went completely sideways I was very high on this team. perhaps context and awareness of what's going on around you would help this view. I'm the kind of person who says things like they are. if the situation is bad then I say it if the situation is good then I say that.

my thoughts mean nothing, but I hate the "bye" in the playoff scheme. I don't think anyone should get a buy. either a 8 or 16 team format for even brackets, with no bye.

Yes tell us how good Oregon and Illinois are 😂 Tennessee has played 3 teams better than either of those and would beat both
tennessee got embarrassed by the only three good teams they have played this year but please take more meth. you're posts are very entertaining.

Tennessee could not travel to oregon and beat them on the road. that much I'm very sure of.

again I have a hotline you can call if you're ready to face your addiction issues. I'll pray for you and your family if you have one 😂 😂 😂

Yes they could. Oregon is not that great. But your hypotheticals are hilarious. You are so emotional and weird.

Tennessee will beat Vandy and you and the other Franklin idiot will have to cry and hold each other kid

Every nega uses the "realistic", "say it like it is" thing. I have plenty of "context and awareness", and no illusions about what this team is, but the idea that an 8-3 team with two brutal losses where they outplayed top 10 teams can warrant nothing but negativity is just ridiculous, not realistic.

So, in your world, only an 11-1 top 5 team is one that deserves any praise, or do you just blast the single loss? Seems that your brand of "context and awareness" doesn't have room for any enjoyment, which is the entire point of what is essentially entertainment and nothing more.

Not to mention the hyperbole he uses

UT got “embarrassed” by UGA and Oklahoma but “should’ve lost” to arky and miss st.

Emotional and not even a Vol fan

I'd say we'd have a 10% chance to beat Oregon on the road. We were lucky to beat a 6 loss Miss St in Starkville and would have lost if not for 2 defensive TD's.

I hope to hell we do beat Vandy. I'm not so sure we will, but playing in Neyland will help. Pavia will throw for 300+( probably closer to 400) on our sh*tty secondary. I'm already dreading anybody we have trying to cover Stowers and Sherrill. Luckily, their secondary is just as bad as ours, JA and our WR's should have a field day. I can definitely see a 45-42 type game. Biggest factor will be turnovers..if JA comes out and turns it over 3+ times, we will get the brakes beaten off us. Pavia needs to be the one turning it over.

yeah that's right. just like all the Alabama fans and Ohio State fans say the same thing I do after their teams blunder. but those teams have championship pedigrees with fans that have really high standards. we have the TEMU version of that. Dollar General class fans who are never disappointed because they have zero expectations. Batter Vols fans all the way.

The thing that got me was Oregon jumping Ole Miss. There’s really no way I can see that happening unless it’s trying to position teams for the final seeding. Ole Miss didn’t play, has win AT Oklahoma and get jumped. Now both Oregon and Ole Miss will win this weekend, but they won’t drop Oregon back. Doesn’t make sense unless they were trying to set potential matchups with current seeding

They are always working the system

Their overall schedule is mediocre. But they have 5 wins against teams at .500 or better. That's 5 more than Tennessee.
The .500 thing doesn’t mean much but going into Eugene and winning by 10 is impressive. Plus, they won at Happy Valley and in Kinnick. Those are tough places to play.

No, not letting some conferences get an auto-bid. Sixteen with no byes, or 24 with byes.

It may have been said by now but that is what Sankey is trying to do. It’s easy to see the Little Ten got it easy. Awfully weak schedules with a lot of bad teams in the conference, then they love having bye's in the playoffs. They hope to waltz to the finals because they get high rankings because they are helped by mediocre schedules during the regular season. They only have to beat 1 or 2 strong teams and don't have the weekly grind of the SEC which affects your ranking.

Look at Ohio State's schedule. Their strongest game to date is a Texas team they played at home that is mid in the SEC. If they do beat Michigan then that is still just book end decent teams on the schedule versus some SEC schools facing 4 and 5 straight ranked opponents.

I think it would be difficult to win @ Oregon but I'd give us more than a 10% chance. I really have no clue whether Oregon is even a good team this year, much less elite. Maybe they are, maybe not. They were beaten at home somewhat soundly by an Indiana team on their home field. Indiana appears to be really good this year but there's not much else they have done with their schedule, either. Oregon also was very fortunate to pull out a win over a very average Iowa team.

Your point about our Mississippi State game is valid but, by the same token, if we don't turn the ball over three times inside our own 26 yard line, we blow them out.

I may have missed the reasoning behind this statement but I live in Bama land and I don't recall any of their fans claiming they didn't deserve to be in the playoffs at 9-3 last year nor have I heard any of that chatter about their currently 9-2 squad this year. They do tend to irrationally start calling to fire their coach every time they lose a game, so maybe that's the correlation.

I think 12 is enough personally. 8 would probably better honestly.
I initially wanted 8, but if they are going to give every conference winner a free pass it know doubt will end up at 16. Reality is if the Tulane’s and SMU’s or goodness gracious James Madison’s in the world can horde their way in you have to expand it to give it justice. These lesser conference teams would never make it close if they were in a stronger conference. Heck, just look at Ohio State’s schedule. Yes they are good but the heat needs to be on them to play tougher schedules than that. The love affair the committee has with Indiana is a joke. They have hardly played anyone, no way in Haiti should they be ranked over A@M. I agree the playoffs never need to expand over 16, it will totally water everything down. Everybody wants a participation trophy these days. But if these mid major championship teams are going to get automatic entries then out of fairness you have to go to 16. If you’re simply going to take the highest ranked teams period you could go to 8. But staying with letting all the conference champs from mid tier leagues in without going to 16 is nothing but a fraud. And under the current format going to a 8 team playoff would be a travesty. Even at 12 with these mid tier conference champ tie ends it’s still a farce. GBO

F it, just do away with non conference schedules, play 8 conference games for the regular season, and let the entire top 25 fight it out at this point. If you're unranked, you go to a bowl game with 6 or more wins. Winning your conference will still matter because of playoff seeding, & home field advantage.
