The sad part of this is, they had to actually try that ridiculous model to see that it wouldn't work. I want to get paid a lot of money to make poor decisions. 95% of college football fans knew that wouldn't be fair.I personally think this is what it should have been all along. The BEST 12 teams should get in.
You’re right, just not the bye’s. My mistakeI don't think they are doing away with auto-bids. They are simply changing the seeding format to where conference champs are not guaranteed the top four seeds. The four P4 conference champs as well as the highest rated G5 team will still automatically qualify.

I agree somewhat, except the broadcast networks will push to keep them for the revenue. Also, imagine if say the Big Ten comes down to a number 2 Ohio St playing a number 12 Oregon...Oregon wins and they are in the CFP...Oregon loses and they are out. Too much drama in those type scenarios for the networks to give up the conference title games. It's past time to do away with the conference championship games. If they don't get you an auto playoff bid, then there is no benefit to playing an extra game that you could lose.
Doing that would level the playing field between the P4 conferences and Notre Dabe, too. If you want a conference championship, just award it to the team with the best regular season record in conference. If two or more teams tie for that record, award co championships.
