I don’t want more playoff games, I do want better bowl games. I wish the change is to eliminate all the automatic bowl tie ins and use the rankings to pair the teams. Not necessarily 7 vs 8 but 5 vs 6-12 so that you could get a level of rivalry.
Makes no sense. They were the undefeated Big 10 champs and a play away from winning last night.
People really, really need to pump the brakes with all the HB speculation and fantasizing. Let the kid get some practices under his helmet. Let him play a few games. You're wondering if a kid is going to be "elite" before he has stepped foot on the field.
As to whether OK is that bad or LSU is that good, it's a mixture of both. It's a sterling example of why we don't need eight teams in the playoff. I actually think last night provided a better road map. Have a three-team playoff where one team gets a bye and two teams do a play in. With three, you eliminate the argument that out of two teams neck and neck one got left out. Whether it's eight or four, there's always going to be that argument anyway.
I agree unless it’s the NCGNot a bad idea... but would you want two teams from the same conference playing each other in a bowl? I do like the SEC vs Bog 10 and ACC matchups.
That was a well constructed argument and you definitely have a point, but understand that I’m responding to a post that started with “Tonight’s loss shows...” which to me is laughable. How in the world is a 4 point loss to the undefeated, defending national champs evidence of anything? If a play or two goes the other way, the fan narrative is “see...they’re as good as advertised”.The big 10 brags about a nine conference game schedule; but when you come right down to it, there are a bunch of patsies in the big 10. Right now it's even worse in the ACC. Sure the SEC has teams the caliber of Vandy, but even the middle of the pack SEC teams can make life miserable for the top of the conference if they don't come prepared. It was obvious that OSU was a great team last night, but would OSU have been that good if they'd played a schedule like most SEC teams play ... the week in week out wear and tear on players is pretty brutal. Same thing with Clemson schedule wise - just not much overall conference strength - this year especially. Don't forget that where teams rank during and at the end of the year is pretty much dictated by the W/L record rather than the strength of the conference where most of their games are won and lost ... when all is said and done, the bowl results will probably show once again that overall conference strength should be a bigger factor in rankings than simple wins and losses. Face it, no matter what the record, AAC (not ACC for clarity) teams and the like probably don't deserve rankings in the top 20.
You know that Trevor Lawrence was born in Johnson City and he and his parents were Tennessee fans.I still dont know how we werent a factor in his recruitment. Thanks Lyle.Tee Higgins, Amari Rodgers, Jacob Phillips, Jacoby Stevens, Maurice Hampton and Master Teague would have looked good in Tennessee Orange this year. Maybe Woodi Washington eventually.

I’m having a lot of trouble understanding the point of your post. Should fans not be excited and hope he turns out to be a great qb? Watching the games yesterday proved (yet again) that it’s all about qb. You either have one...or you’re no good. We haven’t had one in a while. I’m not trying to be dramatic but Jg is one of the worst QBs we’ve seen continue to start. We’ve certainly had bad QBs but they were always replaced quickly. Jg has started for 3 years! And lucky us...we got him for another year apparently. He’s not just going to learn to stay calm under pressure and move around in the pocket to buy time. Yet that’s the no1 skill that all great QBs have.
So back to the point...what on earth is wrong with hoping that Harrison bailey becomes that guy?
- elite QBs win championships. Both LSU and Clemson’s QBs were lights out. Will HB be this kind of elite?
- would TN be the Clemson team we have seen over the past 5 years had we avoided the dysfunctional decade? How many names did you hear on Clemson’s roster tonight that would likely have been Vols had we picked the right coach the first time?
- was OK that bad or is LSU that good? Will we be able to score on that defense next year? Give them a fight next year?
- I would love to see LSU win it all but I still have a bad taste in my mouth about coach O telling our recruits to not attend class as he snuck off with Kiffin.
Just a few thoughts after watching the two games today? What say you?
My favorite part of the game was when Herbie happily said oh yeah that’s definitely a catch and a fumble, but the rules expert said I disagree, he never tucked it or made a football move. His OSU bias was on full display there and he had to backtrack and reign it in.

I agree, I don't like Ohio State. But they got some tough calls.
Good thoughts, all I can say is Clemson and LSU have very very fast players. We have a long way to go to get to that level. GBO- elite QBs win championships. Both LSU and Clemson’s QBs were lights out. Will HB be this kind of elite?
