Arkansas vs. Tennessee Game Preview, Fearless Prediction

Why Tennessee Will Win

The Arkansas defense can’t seem to come up with a truly meaningful stop. Texas Tech and Patrick Mahomes hit 87% of their passes two weeks ago, and Texas A&M’s Kyle Allen completed 75%. Tennessee isn’t throwing the ball as well as it’s supposed to, but Joshua Dobbs turned back into Joshua Dobbs at times last week against Florida, running well and making better plays as a baller. 115th in the nation in pass efficiency defense, Arkansas is going to have problems if the Vols finally start utilizing all their receiving weapons.

I have nothing to support this, but I think we roll Arkansas this week. It is just a gut feeling.

CBJ has to win this one, or he is staring down a 2-5 start.

On the other hand, a win for UT and a possible Georgia loss to Alabama would put UT right back in the east divisional race.

Plus, a probable Florida loss to Ole Miss. GBO!

I feel the same way. Tennessee isn't as bad as their record indicates. If the Vols can figure out how to put together a complete game, look out. IF...

If we finally start utilizing our receivers? I have a better chance of winning the lottery.

Just heard that Arky defensively is great against the run but is very susceptible, even very poor vs the pass............we're absolutely screwed.

Arkansas hasn't faced a good running football team. So its hard to say

Here are Arkansas' opponents and their rush rankings. I'm not saying they won't play well against the rush. Just saying they haven't played against Dobbs, Hurd and Kamara yet. Florida is 28th in rush defense (they dropped after playing us.) Arkansas is 21st.

UTEP - 77th
Toledo - 112th
Texas Tech - 43rd
aTm - 53rd

Tennessee - 15th

Absolutely screwed might be a little dramatic (I hope.) We'll see.

We will make their defense look like champions and our defense will be shredded. Ark 35 UT 13. Score 35-10 kicked a field goal from the 3 yard line with 3 minutes left on the clock.

Some of Arkansas' defensive numbers from the A&M game are skewed imo. I just saw the first half, but they had like two "passes" that were really that WR sweep where the QB taps the snap forward making it a forward pass. Those two plays went for like a combined 90 yards.
Also, I knew Arky was missing their RB, but I didn't know they are also missing their TOP THREE WRs!! If we can't beat that team, coming off of three consecutive losses (last one in OT) and in our house, then Vandy is going to be a slobber knocker.

Arky has the worst pass defense in the sec right now if we can't pass on them I have no hope for the passing game until changes are made.

I think I read somewhere that Ark is last in the SEC in pass defense and that UT is next to last. So, we can speculate as to whether or not we can pass on their defense based on whether or not can we pass on our defense?

I know it's just practice, but one would think a decent gauge, maybe.

i think there's more to this game than x's & o's and match ups. both teams are fairly desparate to win the game, and desperate times call for desperate measures.

it'll be interesting to see what kind of things Ark is willing to pull out of its bag of tricks, on the road, after losing 3 straight. at this point, they have nothing to lose.

same can be said for us...are we going to "let the game play out" or are we going to dictate what happens, make momentum?

this is an interesting game not because of the paper matchups, but the mental hurdles both programs seem to need to get over.

which i think makes this game wildly unpredictable. i think the keys for us, is playing in Neyland.

Arkansas shouldn't worry . . . we'll help 'em get on track. That's what we do: make the other team look like world champions when it matters most. It just kills me that I have to admit that there is absolutely no reason to think that our pattern is going to change or that the outcome this Saturday will be different.

I certainly hope that the players will themselves to a victory. Coaching isn't going to be in our favor in any game the rest of the way. Maybe not even the Vanderbilt game.

Analytics.

Stats for Arkansas thus far this season are skewed. Both ATM and Texas Tech throw a lot and run little.
