Cfb playoffs [expanding to 12 teams as soon as 2024]

Yeah, there's a lot of money involved and I'm sure they did try to cross the line as far as making the athlete play more than they should, etc., but it's ridiculous. Under the 4 team format...they usually let in one or two contestants that get the literal beat down. Notre Dame, some years ago, Cincinnati last year and I'm sure others can name a few. I can stretch the mind to do 8, only because that might get another SEC team, or another that is from a conference that actually matters - and who reasonably can win the dang game (Oklahoma, Michigan/State, USC when there no imploding, Texas or T-A&M down the road etc.). You're fine with 8 when you STOP inviting the likes of Cincinatti, etc., when it's readily apparent to your causal fan - - they have NO BUSINESS being at that level, nor in the game. If you can get rid of the stupid mis-matches...however you do it, then you can have no more than 8 in it. 12? Yeah, you're acquiescing to politics. As a viewer - it's BS. Especially if you will continue to let Seniors opt out - that can change the dynamics in a hurry. So......no.....to 12....its idiocy.

It's BS---just greed, like everything that's going on with college football. We don't need more playoff games. It's always more, more, more....greed when it comes to sports in America.

I like the expansion for viewership and to attempt to fix the watered down landscape of cfb. BUT the same 4/5 teams will be in the semi finals regardless. It can be argued either way I guess.

I'd like to see it mirror March Madness. Expand to 64, and start the season at Week 5. Players can transfer inseason. NFL players also eligible. Finally, some improvements in the college game!

With this starting in 2024, who thinks we finish in the top 12 in 2023 before losing a bunch of talent. šŸ˜‚

Maybe they'll cancel the SEC and B10 conference championships - top two teams get automatic bids.

I'm for it 100%! I actually wanted to see it expanded to 16 teams but I'll take this for now!

1. Conference winners get automatic bid, which keeps winning your conference somewhat relevant and keeps regular season conference games important. Plus everybody is going to want that bye! So it keeps winning all the big games important, including the conference championship games!

2. Now that more teams have a real shot at getting in and not just the same 4-5 teams over and over, hopefully over time this (along with NIL) will help dilute the recruiting pool more. Maybe more 4 and 5 star athletes will go to other schools besides Alabama, Ohio State, Clemson, Georgia, and Oklahoma if they think they have a more legit shot at making the playoffs. Wont happen overnight, but hopefully over time.

3. Its more college football and potentially will make for some fun matchups! Thats never a bad thing!

The whole thing is about access. Now more teams in more conference have access to the playoffs. Which is a good thing. Especially for us.

How College Football Playoff expansion will affect realignment, job security and the future of the sport

This is huge. If we are ranked top12 in the final standings, we will make the playoffs...much more attainable than making top 4 for a team like us climbing the mountain right now.

Threw up a little when i read the gators would have made it in 18, 19, and 2020...
What I don't like about this is that 12 teams will now take the top 11 Bowl games over a 4 or 5 week period, so there will only be a one or two week max layoff between the end of the season and the start of the playoffs. It also probably means the end of the SEC championship being anything more than what the SEC BB championship is today.
I'll miss that month planning a trip to FLA for a bowl game.
