Unbelievable in 3 weeks time, line up change, class makeup, scorers, depth, size. I have never seen a college or any team turnover like this in such a short period of time.

Could be a 60 -70% change in roster alone.

And so far, the changes have been an immediate upgrade with the exception of DT.

Please expound on where you think the upgrades are. I can only see one position. Chiles might be better than Barton.

I agree with OP. Outside of maybe Penn States football predicament, I can't think of a higher percentage of turnover from one year to the next.

I believe he's referring to the recruiting class. Which, other than Mostella, is debatable. Cofer and Austin would both have been better than who we are bringing in at their positions for the long term health of the program. We upgraded SG and C as I don't think Turman would have fit this system.

Personally I don't think we will know how much of an upgrade, if any, until next year. When the team gets on the court.

Depth and the experience level has definitely changed. The systems and playing styles changed.

Individually hard to say but appears that CDT has increased the number of immediately available moving pieces on the floor to compete.

Got his players in here now up to him to coach Em up...nobody is screaming for a year 0....should be interesting.

Will be interesting to see this team play as a team and that maybe the upgrade versus looking at it from an individual perspective....

Barton was gone anyway. He's saying Thompson is better than Chiles.

unfortunately, all we can go on for Thompson is his 2 pts and 2 assts and multiple benchings for lazy passes and play.

If you look at stats and proven experience, Chiles is an upgrade. So we upgrade at 3 positions and majorly upgrade in depth, scorers and ballhandlers over what this team was going to look like just a few weeks ago. Add in upgrade in recruiting, HC and assts and things go from dreading next year to excitement.

We lost 4 seniors, 4 recruits, and 2 transfers out. 10 out of 13 scholarship slots, leaving only 4 scholarship players from last year. Donnie has us up to 10 now, and with the possible next signee of (6' 9" / 6' 10" ) Tarik Owens, 11, leaving 2 slots open. 3 if Pops is asked to leave. None of us knows how this team will gel this season. 7 to 8 new players coming in at one time is normally unusual, but not so for Donnie. Got to give he and his staff all the credit in the world for what he's done within 3 weeks, 3 WEEKS!

DT wants his own players here, not players recruited by the former coach. That is an upgrade.

Have to agree, McKnight is a better option than Turman.
As far as SG and PF I still see Hubbs and Moore as the best options.
i think Donnie filled out his roster with the best he could get at this time. the real upgrading will come in the next class.
I think we gained the most in extending our bench.

100% agree with that last sentence. The more I think about it the more I think we will start Chiles, Hubbs, Jrich, Moore and McKnight with Mostella as a spark plug off the bench.

It is a pretty good upgrade, knowing he is going to have 4-6+ scholarships to recruit with next year.

I'd agree with that. And don't get me wrong. I'm ready for some donnie ball.

Win or lose, I am intrigued and marking my calendar to watch this team play.

went to one game each year the past 3 years after being a season ticket holder for @ 10 years or so. It just wasn't entertaining to me personally and wasn't an event I wanted to take friends, family or clients to. The intensity in the building sucked, and our lazy and no instensity starts to way to many games will be no longer.
Now, I already have 4 games planned with current and maybe future business partners and I look forward to seeing us play.
Games will be fun again and business will be conducted. Suites will be full again and the people invested in the program will not be losing $ and potential clients anymore.
All jmo of course, but from personal experience and the experience of friends doing business on a level way above what I deal with.

so you don't think anyone coming in will be able to help us better then DT. And i am a DT fan thought he passed well but not a good shooter or ball handler. Maybe he looked nervous due to be a freshman

I don't blame DT a bit for last year. He started and had a great game, but was never given the ball or the green light to fire upcourt and make something happen again and it made no sense. So long and can finish with either hand, but you would rather him stand in a corner and pass it to Maymon on the block for @ 20 games while we all stand around.

Agree 100%. DT might develop into a complete player, but what we saw was a kid that simply couldn't hit an outside shot and is a step slow on both offense and defense. He was a good FT shooter so maybe his shot would come around. I cringed every time our opponents would press us because he just isnt quick enough with the ball. He really needs to be a 2 guard but that only works if you can shoot. If I were UT's opponent, I wouldn't guard him at all from the arc.

You aren't the only one who feels this way. I know two big time donor families and both have had season tickets since TBA opened. Both parties were so feed up with watching Zo ball that they decided to begin to lease year by year their season tickets for as long as it took for Zo to leave. Many people don't look at the business side of UT basketball. UT under Zo was losing money. The attendance was down last year, and next year would have been much worse. I've heard the excuses for the attendance dropping some this year, but the real problem was Zo's product bored people. It's not so much about losing as it is about not entertaining. Zo's product contained both losing crucial games and boring people to death.

So fans will be okay with losing if it's exciting?
