Here's another bold prediction. Let Tennessee wipe out GT say 35-17 then win game 2, then go down to the swamp and come out with a win there, then beat Georgia for a 3rd time. You'll see these same experts puttin out narrative like CBJ and Tennessee on a roll!
Sorry Dan, that's not that bold. Sure it's been a while since we've won in the swamp, but they are not the same Spurrier led team. Maybe Donkey Face can pull off another unlikely win again, but I think he's lost the mojo that's been giving the gators the confidence to beat us. He is still the guy that said, you just don't lose to Tn. Well he did, even after being up 21-3 mid 3rd qtr.
What is it about a 50/50 chance we start 5-0? That's not bold, that's a coin toss.
Seems like alot of people forget we had trouble beating them even before Spurrior arrived. In fact, I believe two of Majors SEC Championships were because Florida was on probation.
I agree with your post. I am relying on his past actions, what we lost to graduation/draft, and the schedule to form my opinion on what will happen. Others are relying on hope that new staff, returning injured players, freshmen, and underachievement by historically good rival programs will cause us to overcome the conventional wisdom. It'll all play out on the field. I just have a knee jerk reaction to the preposterous notion that Jones transcends the program and will somehow be coach here for so long as he wants to be.
Coaches being fired prior to November 1st is really not as common as the writer makes it sound with the stupid October being the new December line. He only cites Les Miles which was a unique situation. Hell, even a no brainer firing like Dooley made it to November.

This! Barring something really bad off the field (or 3-9'ish on the field) there's no way Butch doesn't finish the season.
I've mentioned several times that UT's best bet is for Butch to figure it out and get this thing going. If the admin does make a change down the road, I hope they have a plan in place...which is something they've lacked in the past.
The new recruiting rules may turn out to be a disaster. When player and recruiting losses occur with a coaching change, there won't be much opportunity to rebuild a depleted roster because the limits are strictly by year and not how many open scholarships remain. The schools that fire coaches until it gets sorted out may be placing themselves at a big disadvantage. The flip side is that players who would leave may find no place to go, but disgruntled players don't make for a good team - at least that's what we've Hurd through the grapevine.
