After JJ announces 1st and 10, Tennessee (hell, maybe he announces 1st and TenNESSEE)...the crowd says Carry the Fight. This. This needs to be it. Props to whoever said it first, didn't feel like scouring this thread to find it.
I love the 1st and TenNESSEE idea. I also love the Down the Field. But honestly, this should me more than some kind fan interaction chant. There's been several people talk about how annoying it gets at USCjr, KY, etc. Chants can easily get hokey over time. The 'Smokey's on the Prowl' howl they did in the late 90's, early '00 was sooooo bad. I absolutely hated it. Inevitably, people will loose interest as the game carries on. But the final of Gen. Neyland's Maxims? That has potential to be a true home field advantage. Think about it, the opposing team's defense keeps getting punched in the mouth, giving up 1st down after 1st down. Offense keeps gaining momentum. It's like being ringside at a boxing match, they have a washed up manager trying to stop the bleeding, and we've got 102,455 yelling you've got em on the ropes, keep going, Carry the Fight!
Just my $.02, but it isn't some cheesy howl, or generic chant. Every 1st down, our team hears 102,455 reinforce Neyland's 7th Maxim to them, while our opponents keep realizing it's going to be a long day/night in Knoxville.
