CBJ Wants First Down Chant

I like the smokey howl followed by Craig and Ariana (snl) who's that with a first down? It's Tennessee, it's Tennessee. Don't know about Will but Cheri would do it.

how about a loud, annoying growl or bark by smokey, similar to the obnoxious rooster crow at south carolina???

If we're gonna have chants on first and third downs, second downs are gonna be awkwardly subdued. So we'll need a chant there too. I nominate: Hump Dowwwn!

This is late night/early morning thoughts, so take it for what it's worth: When we get a 1st, CBJ likes to go up-tempo and the band usually plays a music snippet (my favorite is the Spirit of the Hill snippet), so we could chant with a snippet they play to help sync it up. For example, if they play the Spirit of the Hill snippet (link for reference: https://youtube.com/watch?v=feMtbehwAng) they play the last 5 or so seconds of music, so around :23, the crowd could go "and It's First down, Tennesseeeee." Or something like that. Or if the band played a selection from "March on Mighty Vols" (couldn't find a video, best I could do is a sample: https://play.google.com/store/music...4twalyse&tid=song-Tw72b6lbajd43a75kbkxjdvehwq) the crowd could go "March on Mighty Vols" at the end. Something like that. Best I got.

1st down chants...oh please. These are so terrible. South Carolina does one and i think kentucky as well. It's embarrassing when they repeatedly play these. Sorry Butch, im not onboard with this idea

This may go the way of "fist up" defense

I've been to A Jacksonville Jags game where they say "Move those chains" three times after a fist down. That is a terrible chant. Hopefully it's nothing like that, it just sounds hokey.

After JJ announces 1st and 10, Tennessee (hell, maybe he announces 1st and TenNESSEE)...the crowd says Carry the Fight. This. This needs to be it. Props to whoever said it first, didn't feel like scouring this thread to find it.

I love the 1st and TenNESSEE idea. I also love the Down the Field. But honestly, this should me more than some kind fan interaction chant. There's been several people talk about how annoying it gets at USCjr, KY, etc. Chants can easily get hokey over time. The 'Smokey's on the Prowl' howl they did in the late 90's, early '00 was sooooo bad. I absolutely hated it. Inevitably, people will loose interest as the game carries on. But the final of Gen. Neyland's Maxims? That has potential to be a true home field advantage. Think about it, the opposing team's defense keeps getting punched in the mouth, giving up 1st down after 1st down. Offense keeps gaining momentum. It's like being ringside at a boxing match, they have a washed up manager trying to stop the bleeding, and we've got 102,455 yelling you've got em on the ropes, keep going, Carry the Fight!

Just my $.02, but it isn't some cheesy howl, or generic chant. Every 1st down, our team hears 102,455 reinforce Neyland's 7th Maxim to them, while our opponents keep realizing it's going to be a long day/night in Knoxville.

I would like to hear the crowd yell DOWN THE FIELD! I think i saw someone mention this too.

I have a great one, that I think all of Volnation will really get behind. There's a DJ Snake/Lil Jon song called "Turn Down for What", I say we change the first word to be "FIRST Down for What!" and they play a little snippet of the song every time.

What do you guys think??? I think it's just innovative enough to work.

On a more serious note (arguably), how about we all break into the classic Presidential chant, "FOUR MORE DOWNS!" "FOUR MORE DOWNS!"
