Several posts have mentioned this but I think it needs to be emphasized. Any chant (even First and Tennnaaasee) must be said in unison---if not, it's sounds like a bunch of people yelling "something". In order for the crowd to yell in unison, there must be a CUE of some sort, an audible cue....not visual (because you can't get 100,000 eyes watching the same spot; with "hearing" you don't have a choice). The "sound" cue would logically come from either the P.A. announcer or the band. Personally, I'd prefer it coming from the band. At any rate, something has to precede the chant that cues the crowd to do it.

Of the ideas posted so far, I like "Carry the fight" and "Down the field" the best, because they're unique to Tennessee. The Tenness-EEEEEEE thing gets points for creativity, but I don't know. I could easily imagine that sounding like a bunch of squealing girls, if it's not done right -- like "WEE!" It sounds like the kind of thing I would laugh at if rival fans did it.

Down the field is a good one, because it is one of our fight songs. Just as a side note, I'm a little dissapointed every game day because no one knows our real fight song except for band members. I'm not a band member, but they give it to you at orientation and figured more students would know and sing it.

Yeah, I really like Down the Field. Makes total sense.

The announcer repeats "1st down Tennessee"
The crowd then says "yeah!"....again in their best Lil Jon voice.

Like the Dave Chapelle skit...lol
