If a team has the overall talent and enough depth to have some fresh legs in the fourth quarter it can impose its will while playing to run off some clock and hold onto a lead.
Last year we weren't quite there. Perhaps this year we will be. I think this whole "gotta keep our foot on the gas and score" thing is a little too simplistic.
Quality troll job here.epper::compute:
U Sports ranked the best and worst SEC coaches 1-14. Muschamp is last. They have Butch at 8th, and are pretty critical of his coaching last season.
Do you agree with his assessment? Think he has Butch too low? Think he is too critical of Butch?
Do you agree with the statement "If he cant win with this team its all on him"?
I agree mostly agree with the writer's assessment. But I never have understood why CBJ doesn't get any credit for closing out the UGA game. We all harp on the four losses as an example of his inability to "keep his foot on the gas." Yet, we give him no credit for closing out a quality opponent. Either way, I agree that Butch has to improve his in game coaching if Tennessee is going to compete for championships.

With all due respect Dodger..."credit for closing out the UGA game"?
Georgia started inside their own one yard line, went 72 yards in 12 plays in 1:48 and only didn't have a chance to kick an extra point to tie the game after a TD pass because of a great last second play to tip the ball away from a UGA WR in the endzone by Brian Randolph. We were literally about 3 Brian Randolph fingertips from experiencing yet another late game, 4th quarter collapse that would've required our guys to find a way to win the game in overtime....something we didn't do too well in Neyland a few weeks earlier vs Oklahoma. So, while Butch does get credit for leading the team to a great come from behind win, I think it's beyond a stretch to give him he credit for "closing the game out" since we damn near blew yet another one last year with how we allowed Georgia to pretty much run through our defense and narrowly miss sending the game to OT on that last drive after Daniel had pinned them so deep.
Not piling on here, but the UGA is the perfect example when things go your team's way. What if Daniels' punt goes into the endzone vs. the 1/2 yard line, etc., etc.
There are a lot of plays that stick out when looking back over a game. Some go your way (UGA) & some don't (UF & OU).
