CBJ comments on other coaches asking for advice

According to some of our "brillant fans" we lost to Vandy due to injuries. Dumbest fans in America eh Clay Travis? I owe clay an apology for our fans still defending Butch Jones.
Tennessee should've beaten vandy which is your point but likely UT does scrap by on talent alone if they have a healthy team. UT would've beat the hell out of Carolina and Vandy earlier in the year.

Wait now. Bowl games are meaningless right? Isn't that what y'all have been saying? Maybe Vandy players just agree with y'alls brilliance.

Who is yall? Once again assuming you think you know what I believe to validate your point. Pretty dumb.

I invite you to find one post where I have said a bowl game is meaningless. Or do you accuse me of saying something and its my job to prove i didnt say it? That how it works?

Woulda, coulda, shoulda, injuries blah blah blah blah blah.
Had the roles reversed as you suggest, we beat Vandy and USC early in the season and get beat by UF, UGA, App St, Ohio, Virgina Tech late in the season.

Not sure I understand your point.

I think the point is, every time we lose it's not necessarily all because the coaching sucked.

Dave Doeren apparently wasn't in the list of coaches who called Jones seeking his infinite wisdom.

34-17 as I type and the game isn't that close with NC St and Vandy.

Im confused about something else too, my computer must be blurry. Does that say Shurmur has 137 yards or 437 yards passing?

Not shocked that they are calling him considering what he has to put up with from this fan base. A very negative and vocal 5% are influencing another 15% to sound loud enough to make someone think 50% of the fans want Butch gone. Same vocal 5% that lead the chorus for getting rid of Fulmer. Look where that got us.....
If I were Butch, I would take a pay cut and walk. He could find an easier gig and be more successful. Guaranteed if he walks, we go back to a Dooleyesque type of team lead by some unproven head coach. Within 2 years, we are calling for him to be fired to.

That would be 15-37 for 137 yards and 2 ints.

I guess NC State with their 30th, 36, and 44th ranked recruiting classes the past three years had a huge talent advantage over the immeasurable losses suffered by the Vols on defense.

That can be the only explanation. One coach putting a well prepared and motivated team on the field over another couldn't possibly be the answer.

He lost his best two defenders, his middle linebacker and his three top defensive tackles.... Not to mention the offense line stayed banged up for the majority of the year. Losing Sutton and Reeves-Maybin (who were probably the best two football players on the team )was bad enough, but that was just the tip of the iceberg.

Are you suggesting that other coaches are calling Butch Jones to see how he copes with a few fans (5-15%) ranting on internet forums and call in shows? Lol

Lol, yep, NCS coach just have called CBJ on how to cope.
NCS one of those 7 schools that ise Champions of Life as a motto?

And yet a 6-6 NCS team with nowhere near the talent level of Tennessee just beat Vandy and held Shurmur to under 200 passing yards.

Sounds like CBJ needs to prepare his team a tad better to deal with the rigors of a football season.

He supposedly tried that and Purdue said no thanks.

Unfortunately, we aren't as far away from being a "Dooleyesque" team as some would like to believe.

Jones has just managed to recruit better and up the talent level enough to overcome enough of the coaching gaffes from the sidelines, the reportedly dysfunctional locker room, and the historically bad defensive performances to get a winning record.

The good news is Jones is closing fast on Dooley with the idiotic press conference comments.

I don't really think Doeren subscribes to that but it would be interesting to know which schools the Vols are in playoffs with for that Life Championship.

I really don't understand why people hang on to every single word he says

Reminds me of the press and Donald Trump. Every word provokes such outrage and butthurt. It's so absurd that it's comical

Easy...he lies a lot, and he's horribly insecure. Name-droppingest-coach Ever. I may be wrong, but I cant recall a coach who justifies himself this way, at least at this rate. Analytics chart for field goal? - highly doubtful. Multiple coaches called after the JRM targeting call before the PC immediately following the game? no way. Dude's a clown.

For those that believe injuries hurt our chances of beating SC and Vandy, we went from SECe champs playing for a spot in the playoffs to the MCB. Our fall was far and fast too.
Michigan State went from being a playoff caliber team to 3- 9. We dropped to a lower tier bowl against another tradition rich program. Not even close to the same.

The key injuries started early in the season (JRM, Cam, Kirkland .... ) and continued to mount.

I took this as him saying they were asking how he dealt with the adversity around the injuries and keeping the players positive moving forward.

I did not take it that they were asking about the X's and O's but on the mental aspect that a rash of injuries and having a starter quit will put on a team.

Negavols are going to twist it how they like. I took it the same way you did. These guys talk about how bad Butch Jones is for our program but it's really them killing the program.
