Casey Clausen

Give us Clausen for 2004-2007 as our QB and we have two SEC titles. I firmly believe that.

Casey played with heart and was very tough. He was also proud to be a Vol. I wish he was on our team now! Remember his "run" into the endzone against Notre Dame? They called him crazy legs after that. GBO!!!

He was definitely the best of the 3 clausen brothers. Aren't we all so glad that Jimmy didn't come here? He was too cocky with nothing to back it up.

Oh yeah, I'd have hated to get the only Clausen brother that's started an NFL game. That'd be AWFUL.

Hell you could say that if Ainge doesn't get hit by ND in 04, that's a possibility...He was totally derailed when Rick came in to play

CC had his moments. i really enjoyed the OT win against the bammers.

CC also had about 17 fumbles against the Gators in the rain at neyland in 02. and in another game iirc (have tried hard to forget) was involved in a key turnover inside the 10 just before halftime that went for 6 the other way.

I felt like people always complained about Clausen.

Well we had just come off a 6 year run of Peyton and Tee. Those were tough acts to follow especially with the O starting to come unraveled under Sanders.

Taking nothing away from Bray but if Clausen were to have showed up this year we would have thought we had the second coming of Peyton.

That would be UGA and it was ugly. Clausen, kind of like Foster, had some pretty high profile screw ups which I think unfairly tainted their legacy. Clausen was also one of the most awkward looking athletes you could imagine.

I think that UGA turnover was on Jabari, one of the most overrated RBs to play for UT. That was the beginning of our recruiting slide.

i remember CC getting ripped on the post game shows. one description was that "he runs like a scuba diver on dry land."

Replacing Stallworth with Tony Brown and Travis Stephens with Jabari Davis will do that.

Well, thanks....I've never thought of it like that, but you're right. He was tough and was a great college QB...

My niece got his autograph in Chattanooga when he was in a restaurant...He was very nice to her.

That Florida game in the rain (really hard) was a killer... 4 fumbles on 4th and goal at the one, if I recall... I was sick as a dog that night, I thought I was going to have a heart attack! Casey was kind of like Arian Foster, great player who made key mistakes no Vol fan will forget.

Be that as it may, bottom line is he was a winner. He holds or held a few TN passing records and is second to St. Peyton in a bunch more. Bottom line, Casey Clausen was a winner. I'd be happy to have him back!

I thought he was a solid QB but I thought A.J. Suggs was better. His off field attitude combined with being a California kid is what led to Vol fans not liking him.

Suggs got beat out by Reggie Ball. Not to mention he couldn't really even beat Joey Matthews out for the starting role.

This is prolly the most accurate reason of all listed on here.
Not to mention loosing that 01 team.

I think his biggest problem was his mouth wrote checks his performance couldn't always cash. He thought he was way better than he actually was.

I think a game people forget is his 2000 performance against bammer his freshman year. It seemed he had a Peyton-esque want to beat Alabama. Notice his dive for the endzone at the midway mark from about the 8 yard line.

The second half of that somewhat forgotten game where they talk about Casey alot at the end (I couldn't find the first half):

YouTube - 2000 Tennessee Beats Alabama for 6th Consecutive Game (2nd Half)

Included: Rick and Jimmy Clausen (Jimmy in UT gear), Mike Dubose (LOL), Randy Sanders in the booth, Cedrick Wilson as a senior (Maybe his Junior year?), Andrew Zow's first TD pass of the year. (WTF?), bammer transfer Locke sees action

Casey appeared on Fox Sports "Best Damn Sports Show" prior to an upcoming game his Senior year and said something about throwing "Fitty" times in the game... not "Fifty", but "Fitty"... the interviewer laughed out loud... 'nuff said!

I laughed when the Jets drafted Sanchez.

Ainge isn't the greatest but he could have managed the Jets offense similar to Sanchez. Even while on drugs.

All kidding aside...

Would have been cool if Ainge stayed sober and took the job. No offense to your Jets but I'm not sure Sanchez has done anything Ainge couldn't have.

Clausen may very well be my favorite UT QB but I liked Ainge a lot too.

Go Jets? :p

You are delusional.

You are delusional.

So delusional that Ainge was in the running to start until he had to go back to rehab.

About as delusional as Patrick Ramsey starting...

No offense dude but you're pretty confident in all of your opinions. And by confident, I mean full of yourself.

You're the man. :bow2:
