Yes, UT fans do/did not give Casey enough credit...He beat Florida at the Swamp twice, he beat Alabama at BDS twice..He ended Miami's home winning streak, gave us a 11, 10 and a 8 win season..Played hurt, I will never forget how hurt he was when we played South Carolina in 2002....Yet UT fans still didn't show him enough love IMO...That comment about beating UGA in 2002 if he would have played hurt is support wayyyy more than it should have.
He was not Peyton or Tee, but better than anything we've had since (We will see what Bray does with a full season under his belt)..Maybe even better than Andy Kelly as well.
my favorite run in with another "fan" involves Casey Clausen. I haven't told it in awhile, so I'm gonna rehash it. Clausen's senior season I had season tix in YY9. Had those seats for a few years and the guy who sat to our right was a good guy, very knowledgeable about the game and UT in general, so we always sat and talked. There was a lady two rows above who hated Clausen with a passion. His entire career she would spend yelling about how everything was his fault and he shouldn't even get to dress. We would always make fun of her and throw stats at her until she'd shut up. Just about everyone in the section was on our side.
Well one game towards the end of Casey's senior season she went on this rant about how Clausen didn't care about UT. Said she knows it's true because he didn't even run through the "T" anymore. We stared in bewilderment for awhile, then laughed and told her that he was a unanimous pick for team captain (I believe he was the only unanimous pick that season) and so he didn't get to run through the T because he had to be at midfield for the coin toss. She didn't buy it and continued to believe Clausen didn't care about the Vols. Luck would have it that very week, Casey wrote a letter to the editor about how much he loved his time at Tennessee and his biggest regret was that he didn't get to run through the "T" anymore since he was now a captain. What made the thing great was the guy who sat beside me, framed the letter and somehow was able to sneak it into the stadium the next Saturday. He gave it to her and made this big show of it, making her a fool in front of not only our section but the sections around us. It was definitely one of the funnier moments in all the UT games I've ever been to.

Clausen was a very solid qb. i even like the ego he had.
The head bobbing up and down and ice cold stare at Bob Davie after he scored the winning TD at Notre Dame was classic....the announcers had mentioned earlier in the game Davie said Casey wasn't Notre Dame material when he was being recruited....he stood straight across from him giving him the death stare.....might as well done the throat slash at himlol:
people would probably be shocked at how some of their favorite players acted off the field. Casey is still one of my favorites to play at UT
saying I could beat GA with one hand tied behind my back and losing by 5 touchdowns did not help his status with UT fans. Also, being close friends with Kelley Washington (I know some of you liked him) didn't help much either.
