We stared in bewilderment for awhile, then laughed and told her that he was a unanimous pick for team captain (I believe he was the only unanimous pick that season) and so he didn't get to run through the T because he had to be at midfield for the coin toss. She didn't buy it and continued to believe Clausen didn't care about the Vols. Luck would have it that very week, Casey wrote a letter to the editor about how much he loved his time at Tennessee and his biggest regret was that he didn't get to run through the "T" anymore since he was now a captain. What made the thing great was the guy who sat beside me, framed the letter and somehow was able to sneak it into the stadium the next Saturday. He gave it to her and made this big show of it, making her a fool in front of not only our section but the sections around us. It was definitely one of the funnier moments in all the UT games I've ever been to.

Anybody who saw his five ot's in tuscaloosa and can say he didnt give his all for Tennessee is full of bammer.

He wasn't the most physically gifted QB to ever play the game, but the guy could compete with the best of them and just simply won games.

Dude was a warrior especially on the road. He has my respect.

Casey's biggest asset was his heart. His biggest problem was the team around him sucked.

Casey was a great UT quaterback... the shoes he had to fill were huge becasue P and T where larger than life on the field and nice/fun guys off the field...

The head bobbing up and down and ice cold stare at Bob Davie after he scored the winning TD at Notre Dame was classic....the announcers had mentioned earlier in the game Davie said Casey wasn't Notre Dame material when he was being recruited....he stood straight across from him giving him the death stare.....might as well done the throat slash at him :eek:lol:

Davie kept held his grudge too, by calling Rick Clow-son when he called games on TV. Kinda like Calipari with JP Prince. Accidental on purpose mess up of the name.

I will always back "The Iceman" for what he did for us on the field. There are lots of athletes who aren't sweethearts. I'm glad Bray has the same swagger.

The Vols have been in steady decline since Casey graduated. I call it the curse of the Ice Man. Fans said Casey sucked, so the football gods spent the next 10 years showing us QBs that actually did suck. Hopefully the curse is over.

He was a bit of a d-bag in school, but a good QB. I ran into him at a bar in Santa Monica a couple nights before the UCLA game in 08 and talked to him for awhile, his attitude was gone (at least that night) and he said he really missed UT.

I did not like any of the clausens. Clausen had really good wr. he would just throw hitches and the wr. would take it the distance. I met him in person and he wasn't too pleasant to talk to. I think that is what bothered me the most.

Ive heard some Casey Clausen stories about his arrogance. Regardless, he might be my favorite Tennessee QB of all time. Blasphemy... I know.

people would probably be shocked at how some of their favorite players acted off the field. Casey is still one of my favorites to play at UT

No doubt. Arrogance isn't so bad compared to the other stuff they could be doing anyways. Clausen had 106,000 fans cheering him on at home games. That would make a lot of people pretty arrogant.

IMO..... Kelly Washington was a good athlete but dude had a cancerous (I know that's spelled wrong) attitude. What I mean is that his pro player attitude and arrogance filtered to his team mates. Like that '01 seccg they over looked lsu and got beat. I know they played them earlier that year but they still over looked them. And after getting their ass whooped by UGA those two were
spotted at the club after the game TIFWIW.

Clausen wasn't bad I liked him but he threw the ball too damn hard at times IMO.

Casey Clausen allegedly elbowed my sister's boyfriend in the ribs at a bar on the strip one night for absolutely no reason, so he's always been one of my favorites. :)

I'm not quite there with you...but I'm close. He's my second favorite but doesn't trail Peyton by much IMO.

I can't remember if it was the Boiler Room or Underground, but I saw Casey there during his playing days on the dance floor with his shirt off.

I may be in the minority, but Casey is probably my favorite quarterback that I've seen play at UT.

I liked him ok, seemed to be a good kid. But for some reason wasnt sad to see him go. Maybe it was his last 2 bowl games, calling out UGA and going 0-4, but I would taken him in the first 5 games this year.
