Casey Clausen

Casey was a warrior. He definitely gave his all for UT. The fact that he was from California, i think made the fans not like him. All he did was win games. I wish he got to play 4 yrs w Meachem, Swain, BSmith, Hannon.

He got two with Stallworth and Witten and Washington.

i have always had a lot of respect for Clausen and seems like most of our fans have a negative feeling about him. I understand the whole ego/UGA quote problem but as said in this thread the guy went out and won football games and put up solid numbers in the process.

I always thought he was a good tough QB. And the dude's sister is ridiculously hot.

Didn't he complete the 4th & 19 play to help beat Alabama?

If so you have to love him just for that !

GBO!

Casey Clausen caught a lot flak that he didn't deserve. Everyone used to make fun of the way he ran. "Crazy Legs Clausen" is what they would call him.

Casey is good people. I worked with him at UT and outside of UT. For what he lacked in pure talent he made up for in fight and heart.

My only knock on Casey is his sense of urgency. He never played with any. But he had plenty of heart and desire. It was just perceived that he didn't care - laid back Cali kid.

He was an excellent college qb. I just don't think as highly of him as a person as I do a lot of other Vols. Still a Vol, though.

Here is a controversial statement, Crompton was a better QB at the end of his career than Clausen was at the end of his.

Clausen never really became the QB he showed flashes of becoming as a freshman in '00. He was the QB on some uber-talented, yet underachieving teams. And he built his legacy on consistently beating bad teams on the road.

^^this is where people will point out Miami '03 and UF '01. Yes, he did play well at UF in '01 but we don't win that game without a monster day on the ground from Stephens. As a senior playing at Miami in '03, Clausen didn't even have to pass for 100+ yards and we won.

Those are the staple wins of his career. Yet in one, his impact was minimal if any. In the other, a Florida team gave up its highest total of yards on the ground to a player not named Herschel Walker.

Casey's performance in the five OT game at Alabama is the staple win of his career. And yes I know Bama was down that year, but that was his marquee moment. His dive to the pylon and whatnot. I also remember the Citrus Bowl against Michigan when we blew them out

Clausen was truly the Ice man vs bama in the 03 (i think) game vs Bama. 5 OT's. The 4th and 19 pass to CJ Fayton was perfect.
