Carson Beck in portal?

I would think it’s because he sucked this year and his injury? That backup has a cannon.

He sucked? I understand didn’t meet UGA’s expectations, but sucked? 🤔
Threw for 3,400 in 12.5 games. Had 600+ yards stolen via drops. 3rd best passer in the conference. Lit up the #7 team in the nation at that time…

Yeah he sucked.

Rashada is in the portal too. They only have Stockton and two 4 star recruits from their last 2 recruiting classes.

Of course Ewers might look to stay in college and enter the portal too. He isn't a 1st round QB either.

Not sure how I missed the Rashada thing, but I did lol.

Been a hell of a week trying to pack 5 days into 3 since we got absolutely smacked with snow and ice today and knew it was coming.

Ewers is projected to be the 8th-9th QB taken. Usually that works out to somewhere between 3rd and fifth round.

He looked pretty bad in the games I saw. Threw multiple picks and looked lost consistently.

Beck had teammate perception issues in the lockerroom. He's a me only type guy. And an emotional roller coaster guy. There were always early season rumors of disconnects in the GA lockerroom, and I'd wager it was due to Beck and the way he separated himself with his Lambo outside the lockerrom. Having someone drive the Lambo to Austin so he could have it to drive from the airport to campus was pretty telling. Didn't ride the bus in with the team.

Stockton will have the nod going into Spring and be the guy to beat. He is also all GA and only wanted to play there. And has paid his dues. And is good enough to start. Soooo....if he does get passed over it'd be interesting to see if he moves on or Will Brooks it on out.

They really won't miss Beck in general, and I think he knows he's not really wanted back.

They only had 4 on the roster this season. No PWO's or anything. So right now until enrollees show up it's only Stockton and Puglisi. They got a 4 start signed up, plus a 3 star local they may take from Clarke Central ?? Past practice, Kirby seems to like 4 scholly QB's and runs with that. Will have to see if he gets a 5th from the portal for experience.
Not surprised at all. Beck has douchebag written all over him.

I’m not here to defend Beck—he’s leaving my team after all—but the lambo thing seems to be NIL related. It’s likely a leased vehicle that he is obligated to use at certain times under the terms of his arrangement with the dealer. He might have to show up to games in it, for example. NIL is fundamentally sponsorship, and sponsors want their product front and center.

Is that a dumb thing to agree to? Yes. But it would make a lot of sense for a dealer to include that kind of requirement (even if it has backfired horribly in this instance).

Again, not defending the guy.

His overall stats (passing and rushing) were pretty similar to Milton's last year, and everyone thought he sucked 🤷‍♂️

Beck was pretty underwhelming this year. Not bad, but not great.

They’ve ruined college football.
Who is they? We all are just as much to blame. Most wanted some kind of NIL or the Portal. Blame it on the spineless NCAA, the media, the fans, the pre-nil "bag" teams, the Conference Commissioners and yes the players, handlers and a wide open portal to bargain away for amounts unheard of at this level. Entitlements galore.

Not that this cannot be good, it keeps getting worse because it has no structure with a set of rules governing it and the NCAA was never going to be able to handle it.

NFL lite well it is not even close to that structure. It is functioning more like pick'em football with money involved and being able to change teams in the middle of the game.

Wants exceeded the basic Needs to go to a structure.

Apparently there are rumors that maturity is an issue with Beck. Not really surprised to tbh. Let’s see how he handles Miami as opposed to Athens. Seems like a logical choice.

He does have that South Beach look about him. I can see it.

I went down there last year and umm South Beach is terrible. Not a good place to be. I was told how glamorous it was. It wasn’t. It was a bunch of big girls in what was the fabric equivalent of an eye patch and fishnets taking pictures for the Gram. He will fit right in with the other tools riding around in expensive cars that don’t belong to them though.

Being reported Beck in portal not going into draft.
So I'm not sure if this is mentioned in this thread so sorry if it already is. But after being a little stumped by this decision to not just go ahead and get drafted, I did a little reading and it sounds like he's projected to go anywhere between the 3rd-6th round in the Draft. Apparently NIL deals in college would still be worth more than the minimums those draft picks would make.

And I think it's potentially an interesting trend in the bigger picture. Do we start seeing upperclassmen who are projected to be late rounders stay in college more if they can make more on NIL?

UGA paid him $3 million to come back this year. Rumors are that he’s getting $5-$6 million from the U. That’s way more than he would get as a 3rd rounder, and he gets the chance to improve draft stock after rehab.

Yep, with the injury you can’t blame him. It’s just good business sense and he is betting on himself. I think it’s a good move for him.

I was thinking more like The Birdcage. Also those tats he got all over his arm. Looks like Pee Wee Herman bought a tat sleeve.

Haha. I think his girlfriend might suggest something other than the Birdcage.
