Carolina Panthers

Who are those guys?

very happy this morning. the only downside, to get our 1st, we gotta beat Peyton.

hate it for him.

KEEP POUNDING!!!!

Is this not a dream Super Bowl for us, though? Even if our team loses, we'll still get to see Peyton go out as a winner.
What I'm kind of afraid of happening is a repeat of Denver's last SB performance. Carolina could blow them out in a hurry.
Denver is going to need to pressure Cam and get him agitated. If they can do that, they'll be in it until the end. We need our O line to show up angry.

Ha-ha, your team is 20 years old. The Cardinals franchise has been around for 95 years. They've never won the Superbowl either. Sometimes things take a while. Everything is not available "right now"

What are you talking about? How can you get all that from me saying that my team hasn't ever won the SB and I hope that they do this year? LOL at " right now". LOL illogical argument. I don't care that the Cards haven't won it in 95 years. That is their fault. I still hope my team wins the SB this year.

Denver has a nasty defense. Their defense is so good that I think a number of Qb's would win if they had Denver's defense. It will be a close game imo.

yeah, i can tell you this, if were NE and we lost to them, i'd be devastated. if we lose to Peyton, it'll suck, but i can take solace in knowing he got his 2nd ring, and probably retires on top, like Elway and Bettis. this loss wouldn't haunt me.

that said............GO PANTHERS.

as for the match up....Denver's D is plenty good....but so is ours, and i can't help but think that no matter what, we're going to find a way to get to Manning.

i hate to say it, but their offense just doesn't scare me.

now...can Denver affect our running game? can they stop Cam?

we've already beat two REALLY good defenses, so we're battle tested.

i hate to say it, but i like this match up. i'm not calling it, but i think it will be hard for Denver to outscore us. i think we have a better chance of winning the turnover battle again...and our defense is better than New England's and Denver had to work to get 20.

they'll need more than 20 to beat us.

i agree. Denver's D is legit. and is what gives me pause about calling this game. that defense can win this game for them, if we let it.

but so can ours. and i think when all is said and done, you have two defenses that should be the story going in.

and in looking at the offenses matching up to those defenses, you have to ask....which offense is more equipped to score more vs the other?

and i think you'd be hard pressed to convince a lot of people that Denver's offense is going to magically turn in to a juggernaut.

whereas our offense is the kind of offense designed to line up and beat you physically, and over the top.

Denver's D will get stops and make plays....but can they keep us under 20 points? i think that's what it'll take....and i don't know they can do. especially if we get turnovers.

Cam has been masterful against the blitz all season, and is super mobile back there. I think our running game will do just enough to open up the passing game, as it has all season. Olsen will make key and clutch catches, and the receivers will step up again.

As far as matching up against the Broncos' offense, I like our chances. Manning cannot get the ball down the field, especially with our safeties playing the way they are. As much as I appreciate Harper's smarts/leadership, I like Boston back there more, as far as pass coverage is concerned. If McClain and Finnegan play like they did against the Cards, he's going to have a super tough time moving the football. Don't think the Panthers score as much as they have the last couple of games, but I think they come out comfortably on top. 31-17 Panthers.

Stranger things have happened, but I said last week that the NFC would decide the outcome of the Super Bowl, and I'm sticking with that. I think the real Super Bowl (if we consider it the matchup of the two best teams) was in Charlotte over a week ago, when Seattle came into town. It may not be a blow out, but I just don't see how Denver beats Carolina, as long as the turnover margin is not solidly in Denver's favor.

Denver has chosen to wear white, so I guess we're wearing black.
I love the black on black, but I doubt that'll happen. That's what we wore the last time we played Denver and they killed us.

we should go with the color rush blue. we throttled Dallas.

of course, we pretty much won no matter what we wore.

:) man...winning is so much more fun than losing.

You are correct!

CHARLOTTE – For Super Bowl 50, the Carolina Panthers will be back in black.

Because the Denver Broncos, designated as the home team for the Feb. 7 matchup, chose to wear white, the Panthers will wear black jerseys and silver pants in the game. Carolina wore white in Super Bowl XXXVIII in response to the New England Patriots choosing to wear navy jerseys and silver pants, a game the Patriots won 32-29.

The AFC team selects its jersey color first in even-numbered years, and the NFC team chooses in odd-numbered years.

The Panthers have worn black just twice in their postseason history, both resulting in losses at home. But this has been a season full of breaking trends for Carolina, with the Panthers excelling after bye weeks and in primetime games like never before. Super Bowl 50, to state the obvious, is a primetime game after a bye week.

The Broncos, 2-5 in their Super Bowl history, are 1-1 when wearing all white in the big game.

I agree. Those were awesome unis. I would like to see those revisited as well, but looks like we're rolling with black - my second favorite uni.

Hey guys, I've missed this place. I gave up sports message boards for lent, and it was tough!
Anyway, I've come around on the Newton pick. It's clearly a risk because of his Vince Young potential (mentally, that is), but it's hard to dispute this guy's physical talent. To use a draft term, he's got more upside than anyone else in this draft. The Panthers don't need a player that will help them become a little better. They need a homerun guy that can truly keep them afloat in their tough division. Newton might bust, but he also might be a revolutionary player in this league. He's got potential to be a faster Ben Roethlisberger. If our line stays healthy, and we're able to keep Smitty and D.Williams, Newton really will have a legit shot at succeeding early. I don't want him starting week one, but I really think this guy's upside is just too much to ignore for a team as far behind as the Panthers in the NFC South.
Bump
