Carolina Panthers

Am I the only person that thinks Coleman and Harper are just fine? Coleman is a play-maker who had a bad half against Seattle. If you want to point a finger at McClain and Finnegan go right ahead.
I think there will be a lot of picking on McClain again this week.

i think that's enough. Harper's limitations were diminished thru out the season because Bene and Josh and the front 7 were handling things.

i don't think i would just trust Harper blindly....he's old and slow. but experience means something too.

the general worry about the secondary is aimed directly at Finigan and McClain, and rightfully so.

i agree about Coleman, and i think Tre Boston can help..

but i just believe that this game comes down to our pass rush vs. their run defense. whichever defense has the most success give their team the best chance to win.

Saw this video and had to share. References what jakez was talking about earlier. No respect from the national media. Doesn't matter to this team, they'll use it as fuel all the way to the Super Bowl. Keep Pounding!

Jared Allen returned to practice today. I feel like that guy is prepared to lose a foot if it will get him into the Super Bowl.
More power to ya, Jared.

I don't know about you guys, but I think whoever wins this game goes on to win the Super Bowl. I think Carolina, Arizona, and Seattle are/were the three best teams in the playoffs this year and whoever comes out of that struggle, which is now down to Carolina and Arizona, will win the whole thing. If Peyton was pre-neck injury Peyton, then I would favor Denver, but he is not pre-neck injury Peyton, nor will he ever be again.

I think if we can just win this game we have possibly wrapped up the title.

yessir. that guy knows he's in a good spot, and is fairly grateful to be here. i have no doubt if he can go, he'll go.

i dunno. New England looked really good and that's with JE dropping balls.

i don't think anyone can get to Brady fast enough to get good pressure. and as long as they're able to get that quick passing game going, it's going to be hard to stop them.

playing NE, i almost feel like that SB will be a shootout no matter who they play.

i don't see Denver beating them. i don't think they can score enough.

AZ and CAR can. but i still say NE will be an EXTREMELY tough out.

Agreed, but way to jinx the hell out of the Panthers haha

None of the Patriots' SBs have been shootouts. But more than that, they're just not all that good. They should beat Denver, but they're not nearly as good as they were last year and are extremely one-dimensional.

The Panthers are better than the Cardinals along both lines. If they control the LOS like they should, they'll win. I'm surprised so many people are picking Arizona, especially with some of the bad decisions Palmer makes.

My crazy, yet not totally impossible prediction:

Carolina comes out and throttles Arizona just like they did Seattle this past Sunday. They're focused. They're together. They're on a mission. They're not going to geek out on the big stage.

I. Can't. Wait.

It wouldn't surprise me to see Arizona win. With the obvious advantage they should have passing, if Carolina turns the ball over a time or two, it may be lights out on the Panthers' dream season.

But football, much more so than the other major sports, tends to be predictable. The best team will win more often in football than in, say, basketball or baseball (although the one-and-done games, like in the NFL Playoffs, tend to bring more parity to matchups than would a best of 3 or 5 series, where the best team would almost always win). And what combination wins most often in football, the sport where the best team wins more often than in other major sports? Good quarterback play, complemented by strong offensive and defensive lines. Although this combination is close to being equal for the Panthers and the Cardinals, an objective observer would have to give Carolina the edge.

Hopefully this will be enough to overcome the Arizona receivers/Carolina defensive backfield mismatch that surely will be exploited. I think it will be, if history is any indication. It's going to be close regardless.

Teams with good QBs tend to be good, but football is popular precisely because it's not predictable. It's probably the LEAST predictable of any major American sport haha

the 2nd half against the Panthers in SB 38 was most definitely a shoot out....

and that doesn't matter in relation to how this year's game may play out given the players.

scary, but i can see this too. as long as people keep giving this team something to pissed off about, they're scary.

defensively, if we can pressure Palmer, we can force him in to mistakes that can lead to just such an outcome.

conversely, if we can't get pressure, they can pick us a part.....it all comes down to CSM and how he chooses to apply pressure, and if we can overcome the protections.

you know they're going to game plan for pressure, so i'm expecting a lot of TE and RB helping, max protect type stuff. if we can beat that, especially up the middle with KK and Lotouleilei....it's gonig to be a long day for them.

damn. i thought it was looking up. that sucks.

so it's Ealy, Addison, Johnson and who else on the end? KK and Star need to be BEASTS up the gut.

i mean seriously...you start to think what this team would now have to overcome to do what we hope they can do.......

lose starting nickel back, starting corner back, starting WR in pre season, starting DE the week before the NFC title game....they have to play Seattle and Arizona just to have the opportunity to probably play Tom Terrific and his 4 super bowl titles.....

jeez....i know it's not 19-0, but i' think you'd be hard pressed to find a more impressive resume.

reaffirms the meaning behind KEEP POUNDING!!!!

You think so? I'm talking about a one game scenario. Maybe baseball is more predictable, but I have a hard time saying that basketball is. In basketball, a team can have a cold shooting night or its opponent can hit 15 three pointers and win a game without even having to win the boards or score in the paint (aka, actual basketball).

Well, whether it is or isn't, the combination I mentioned is still the key to winning more often than not in football. Good QB and good offensive/defensive lines. I think we have Arizona in all of those categories, albeit only slightly. If the turnover margin ends up being equal, or especially if it's in the favor of the Panthers, then I think the Panthers win 70-80 percent of the time. We only get one chance though, so that one shot will have to suffice.

I think so. If I went through the NBA games tonight and picked winners, I'd do much better than I would picking winners on an NFL Sunday, especially with a significant sample size. The Seahawks were on fire and then lost to the Rams at home. The complexity of gameplans means that teams can look completely different from one week to another.

But I completely agree with your second paragraph. Being better at the line of scrimmage, better at QB, better at running the ball and more talented on defense, I think the Panthers win. Their secondary against Arizona's receivers is a mismatch, but I don't think it's enough to win Arizona the game.
