Carolina Panthers

Well I just read that Basanez has made a turn around, almost 100%. So I guess that means that he will be taken off of injured reserve. Do you think they will still search for another qb with him probably coming back, depending on where Delhomme is at, and my guess is keeping Moore?

Also noticed another article from a week ago that they have signed on a few other guys, two being WR--one of which went to UT--Chris Hannon. The other WR is Dominique Thompson, do not know anything about the guy. Thoughts?

Dominique Thompson went to William & Mary.

Chris Hannon might have been the laziest, most inconsistent WR to play at UT.

for some reason, i'm almost expecting them to try and do something "significant" in free agency. i don't know what, the options are boundless.

we need LB, O line, WR, Safety, possibly running back and D line.

they did resign Damien Lewis...which is strange.

and yes, i could see Ainge in the offense the panthers run, it fits.

and there is some rumbling they may just take the cap hit and get rid of Carr for general purposes.....

The last time they did that is the last time they've had success.

Stephen Davis, Jake Delhomme, Ken Lucas.

And please get Carr out of there.

well if move no. 1 is any indication, i can't get real excited about using about $50 mill to retain Chris Harris and Travelle Wharton.

this off season is getting off to a pop.

Harris is only 25 and he had a good year last year.

8 forced fumbles is pretty amazing.

Wharton was a reach however.

yeah, now that i've had some time to digest it, the harris signing should be a good thing. but the wharton one is a head scratcher.

there are some local writers here though that think this was actually a good thing, and made mention that if we thought that was odd, wait and see what happens in a couple of weeks. basically that we'd be getting off easy with $35 mill for a LT....there's apparently some expectation that there are several O linemen that will be getting $40+ million contracts...

i guess we'll see. this is a fairly important off season for Fox and Hearny.

There are several teams that have a lot of cap space. The money is burning holes in their pockets.

While Wharton, IMO, was a little too expensive, I'd agree with the writers that there are going to be some insane amounts of money being thrown around to mediocre players.

Looks like Kris Jenkins will most likely be traded to the Jets for a 3rd rounder. A 3rd rounder for a 3 time Pro Bowler who was anointed as the next great interior defensive lineman? Oh how the mighty have fallen- great job keeping yourself in tip top condition Kris.

In other news, fan fav Brad Hoover resigned.

I had a vision where the Browns really were dumb enough to let Derek Anderson go and the Panthers picked him up. Even though I could care less about the Browns, I'm glad they aren't as dumb as my vision made them out to be.

Anderson is not worth a 1st and 3rd round pick. Any team that would have given that up for Anderson is idiotic.

Anderson had 29 tds and 19 interceptions. He has two of the best offensive weapons in football with Braylon Edwards and Kellen (f'n soldier) Winslow. Any QB can throw jump balls to Braylon.

I suspect Quinn to start before week 9 next season.

I think that would be suicide for the Browns. Of course, I have no faith in Quinn. I think Anderson will prove to be a more than suitable qb for the Browns, even if it means Quinn has to wait quite a while or move on somewhere else. I also firmly believe Anderson would have been a better pick up than anyone else the Panthers could get either via FA or through the draft.

Delhomme and somebody with a pulse > an inaccurate QB that fell into an offense with a lot of playmakers.

The Panthers need those picks more than they need another second string QB.

I also don't have a lot of faith in Quinn. But any QB with a decent arm can throw fades to Edwards or crossing routes to Winslow jr or hand the ball off to Jamal Lewis.

Delhomme was good to go week 17 last year, but obviously it wasn't worth it.

He'll be back to throwing TDs to Steve Smith in no time.

No he wasn't. He had Tommy John surgery. He's just started throwing.

I read an ESPN article about that a couple of weeks ago. Isn't he throwing Nerf balls? I just remember thinking it was weird that the article actually called it a Nerf ball and not a foam ball.

I guess so, I just read the story from Feb. 11

It must have been Vinny that was backing up Matt Moore.

But at that point in the season I wasn't following too hard. Either way...Nerf balls? He'll be 100% before mini camp....

Well, maybe he'll be throwing harder because of Tommy John then.

and as usual, the fox/hearny combo are ready to set pace......:)
and we're off.........what a joke. Dante Stallworth would have been a worthy acquisition here.

i'm confused on the Kris Jenkins deal, though the draft pick could prove beneficial.

got rid of some dead weight in Colbert...have fun in raraified air in denver. so long Hoover.......and welcom back Moose.

i just don't get it.

the draft better be freakin' awesome.

oh, and don't forget, we signed Ricardo colcolough.

awesome.

You know jake with all that enthusiasm, you should go try out for the topcats, tryouts start saturday. :p
