the cowboys, packers, seahawks and bucs are all better than the panthers. the giants and redskins may also be better.

no way we make the playoffs this season. if we do it's by attrition alone, and it will be an early exit in the 1st round.
...in other news the Miami Dolphins will be hosting the NFL's ''we suck and we watch the playoffs on TV tailgate party''. All teams attending must bring a covered dish.:cray:

So what do you think about signing a new free agent QB? I think of course its great than to rely on Carr's backup which I'm sure we will have to rely on if Carr takes a hard hit. I read in the Charlotte Observer's Sports Page yesterday about some possibilities but I can't remember all of them.

-Testaverde
-Leak--no, no and no! Thats the same thing as the backup, well maybe worse.
-Weinke--we already know he can't do crap.
-Bledsoe--He never played well at Dallas, not so sure about him
-Hasselbeck
-Rattay--but he just signed with another team I believe.

That's all I can remember, but it doesn't seem like there are much options here. I also read where Testaverde is supposed to be practicing with the panthers today, not sure if that is true or not.

Ok well nevermind, they just posted on herald and charlotte observer online that Testaverde has signed.

Well thanks to Hood for blowing the coverage somehow. 89 is dropping a lot more balls this year, it's weird, and killing us because no one else can catch.

Did not see the game, was on the road :-( But I did listen to it on the radio from what I could get, unforuntately not much except for the commercials....Testaverde is the oldest qb to win a game, nice that he did it with the panthers! I didn't realize he was going to start the game as well. Surprised it turned out well, and AZ was expected to win by 10! GO PANTHERS! :dance2:

Don't tell that to Cooper today! Yeah yeah, otherside of the ball, but it works!

I was actually thinking of fitting that in there somehow. Definately a little freaked when Urban got his hand on the ball though.

Running the ball, stopping the run, and a little bit of Steve Smith...John Fox Football baby

having Vinny T as a qb and winning a road game in the NFL on 3-4 days work is as impressive as some of Chris Angels Illusions.

i can't believe they won that game........i'm glad they won, don't get me wrong......just can't believe it.....

4-2 through 6 is great,

but if after the GB game we are .500, I'll be surprised.

Such negativity you two :nono:

Come on we are going to beat the colts 48 to 3! :eek:lol:

Ok, maybe not, I don't think we are going to win that game, but anything is possible. I will not be surprised if we do make it to .500 after GB.

Indy L
Tenn depends on who is QB, Tenn looked lost yesterday without Young. W/L
ATL W
GB L

That would be either 6-4
Or 5-5.

We are the team this year that is just there to get by and create possible upsets!

I think the key to the Titans game is turnovers.

VY is prone to giving it up so if our QB and Foster can manage not to, it will be a Panthers W.

the rest of the season is going to be very long. Vinnie will not be able to carry us the rest of the year. he did what he was supposed to. get us to the bye.

no way a 43 year old qb who was a couch potato a week ago is ready for the rest of a whole reg season, much less lead a team to significant post season play.

but, i'll take 4-2 at the bye......who knows, maybe we'll steal a few home games down the stretch and make a run?

Unfortunately as any Yankees or Diamondbacks fan can attest with the Big Unit, back pain can be lingering for the whole season. We are still not looking good at QB for the rest of the season. I still don't want Carr in there, but as you said, Vinnie is not an answer for more than a couple of weeks.

Hopefully our D can look like they have the last couple of weeks. I am looking past the Indy game for obvious reasons, but we have a chance against Tennessee, Atl obviously, and Green Bay (although we meet them more than likely when it's under 40 deg and will have to test Favre's incredible record in the cold).

Ok both of you guys are saying Testaverde is not the answer. While I will actually agree with you guys, then what are you expecting the panthers to do? I mean do you think the panthers signed him on for a one week deal? Carr will be back I know, but really what are the other options? Delhomme is supposed to be ready for next season, but until then, there isn't much choice.

i think the worst thing that could have happened to the panthers happened. it's one thing to have to rely on Carr for a game or two. it's another to lose your starter for the whole year. then the back up gets hurt.

the vinny thing is fine and it obviously worked out.

but this is scrambling by the front office like you'll never see. you simply can't plan on losing 2 qb's in back to back weeks. you can't plan on having a 43 year old calling plays for 10 more games, and supposedly in the post season.

my pessimism is based on what i've seen so far and looking ahead with the current qb situation.

i like what we've seen from the defense the past two games. problem is it hasn't been there all season, and you're left wondering will it show up this week or not? offensively, and this isn't a slam on VT, i just can't see a 43 year old lasting for hte remaining 10 games, and being the "savior" for this team. sure he could play, but win the division? get in the playoffs? just not there yet.

i see an 8-8 type year on our hands, and in the NFC, that still might be enough for a WC spot....
