Carolina Panthers

Just watched the Richardson press conference, and I'm surprised I was able to stay awake. That man talks so slowly, he's just about going backwards.
Anyway, it seems clear that he's not interested at all in Harbaugh, and if he had his way, no NFL football would be played next year.
I didn't realize he's the only NFL owner with playing experience.
Hurney pretty much said the hire will be another coordinator.
Rivera and Perry Fewell have been contacted about interviews, but neither have taken place yet.

Espn reporting that Panthers officials say the team will pick Luck #1 overall if he declares. They heard my threats it seems. :)

Well, so much for that. Dumb move IMO but hey, it's his life.

As far as where I'd like to see the team go now, I really would like to see them trade the pick down, if possible, and try to fill some other holes on the team. Then with a lower pick, I wouldn't mind them taking one of the other QB possibilities (Mallett, Newton, Locker, Maybe even Gabbert).

This is my nightmare!!!
First of all, have you seen that Perry Fewell is the apparent "frontrunner" for the job. That's what Darin Gantt tweeted earlier.
As for our pick now, I adamantly don't want to take a QB. With the #1 pick you have to take a player who WILL help the team. You can't take a shot in the dark on a QB just because you have a need at that position. It would be better for the franchise to get a guy like Fairley and play another season with Clausen, than it would to take a shot on a guy like Gabbert, and have him be a swing and a miss.
Damn this sucks!

We need to move out of the pick. Who would you take with it? Fairley? I'm not sure how he'll be in the pros.

Nobody is going to trade up when there's nobody worthy of that pick. I just meant that we have to take as close to a can't-miss guy as possible, regardless of the positions. Taking a QB #1 that is a miss will take a long time to recover from.
I say Fairley, Bowers, or Peterson.

I hear you man. I am a Bears fan, but live in Charlotte and pull for them as long as they are not playing my team.

I listen to sports radio religiously, and the mood changed drastically when the news was released.

The headiline in the local rag tomorrow will read, "No Luck for the Carolina Panthers".

You gotta take Bowers, but I don't know how you sell the expense of the No. 1 overall pick to the fanbase. If indeed that pick is not a quarterback.

No way the #1 pick is going to be a QB now. They'll probably take one later though.

Man, I had just gotten excited for Luck too.

Panthers have a much bigger need inside the line. Someone like Suh would be nice...We'll see how Fairley looks on Monday.

Sucks for the Panthers. Is there a guy in the draft now who is a legit #1 overall pick?

The only 2 players I could really see them taking is Bowers or Green.

Looks like Rivera is the guy. I'm glad. With all of the candidates mentioned, he's by far my favorite.

I'm on board!

Anything/Everything is better than last year. Do we know anything about Rivera's possible OC?
