Carolina Panthers

I'm going to share a little info with you that I realize is quite embarrassing.
A man tried to introduce me to his wife this weekend, though I wasn't paying very close attention. He said, "this is my wife Andrea." I replied, "what did you say about Andrew Luck?" I honestly misheard him because I think I'm obsessed.
I also had a dream two nights ago that I traveled to California to watch a Stanford game, just so I could see the kid play in person.

You've got Luck Syndrome. It's sweeping through the Panther fanbase.

I'm not sure if I want Luck, Newton or to trade down and try to address other positions... However, Luck and Newton seem to be future franchise QBs so I think we'd have to take one of them, right? (Trying to forget who our owner and GM are for a second...)

So is Fox getting the axe this year?

As much as it would pain me, if you can't get Luck, A.J. Green to go along with Steve Smith would be devastating for the rest of the division...if Green declares. Supposed to be a deep QB and WR draft so who knows...

I would totally be on board with Luck, but if we drafted him then it would just render the entire 2010 draft meaningless and that would set us back so badly.

What a terrible series of picks. Ugh.

Not getting fired. If were going to be fired, he'd have alerady lost his job. The owner is too cheap to fire Fox before the end of his contract.
Fox will just not be resigned after this year. I think he's pretty unhappy with the front office, and neither side will want to continue that relationship.
I hope we DON'T get Green. I obviously want Luck more than anyone, but Smith, Gettis and LaFell can work as a servicable receiving corps. If not Luck, we need someone like Nick Fairley or Marcel Dareus.

Big game coming up between the Saints and Falcons. First of all, I dislike the Falcons more than any other team in all of pro football. Also, them losing could help us. Sounds strange, but we need them to have a reason to play hard in the last game of the year. If they wrap up home-field this week, then they'll put in scrubs against us next week. I don't know which would be worse...winning that game and losing the first overall pick, or losing to Atlanta's scrubs.
If N.O. can win this weekend, then Atlanta will still need to bring it in the final game of the year. That way it will be a win-win game. We could screw up their home-field dreams by beating them or we could wrap up the first pick by losing. Then again, I don't really care about the #1 overall pick unless Luck is coming out.
Just looking for some reason to care about football this weekend since we've already laid another egg. Oh, and for anyone not convinced that Clausen is NOT the guy...did you watch last night??? He's just the worst!

Clausen has less than zero help. Even smitty played terrible when he was thrown to. I mean the o-line penalties, the drops, the terrible routes, the lack of fight on one on one balls. It's all to blame.

Also, who's there to teach Clausen anything? The Ryan leaf protege from west Texas a&m or the stay at home dad who couldn't start two weeks in a row because he was too sore?

Face it- jimmys tutor is the former browns tight ends coach. The entire organization is in shambles and jc has no shot. Neither would bradford.

You seem like the kind of guy who thought nobody could do better than Matt Simms...because of his "lack of help." Clausen's LT is a pro-bowler, and his center is pro-bowl-caliber. His WR1 is one of the top five receivers in the league, talent-wise. Also, earlier in the year, he had the absolute best RB duo ever to play pro football. Even when one was hurt, he's still got another first rounder in his backfield.
Sure, the team isn't playing very well, but "face it", Jimmy makes poor decisions. It isn't even that. He's afraid to make any decisions, so he's always checking down or throwing it away.
Carolina wrapped up the #1 pick today. If Lucks comes out, they will take him. If not, they'll take someone like Fairley, and pick up a veteran QB. McNabb will be available.

Gross and Kalil have not played anywhere close to where they were a year ago (Gross seems to have regressed to being average at best). This team is just awful in every regard, so it's hard to judge Clausen on this year. However, if Luck is there, they gotta take him and see who wins the battle in camp.

I hate to get dismissive with another Panther fan, but first of all you should have come up with a better example than Simms considering my avatar. Second of all, McNabb- really? And I'm supposed to take you seriously?

At least the other young QBs have the vets and coaching staff to teach them. JC has the worst offensive staff in the league.

And while were talking about the number 1 pick, once they take Luck it will cap two of the most lackluster drafts in franchise history, after giving up on their top pick from a year ago.

McNabb comment was a joke. I should have picked one of those little smilies to indicate tone. That's a move I could see this FO making.
Didn't notice your avatar, but the point was that Simms could have done better with a better offensive line, but that didn't mean someone else couldn't do better even with what the team had...enter Tyler Bray.
Clausen might have a better shot with a better/less banged up offensive line, but that doesn't mean someone else couldn't do better with what they've currently got. If you listen to any scouting reports, it sounds like Luck really is a can't-miss QB. How could picking up a guy like that make it a lackluster draft? Maybe they'll dump one of the RBs to get another 3rd round pick. I just hate that the freaking Pats will get the 33rd pick.

If you take Luck, Clausen is ruined- at least for us- making our draft pretty lame rounds 1-5.

Dumb move for Richardson not to fire Fox after last year. Ik he didn't want to pay fox but I have to believe 2-14 hurts the franchise a whole heck of a lot more than paying a coach to stay home.

It's asking a lot of your fanbase to trust you to be able to become viable quickly during these economic times when season tickets and psls cost a small fortune

I've seen Ron Rivera's name pop up in interview discussions. I've been mentioning his name for a while. I think I'd rather see him get the job than Russ Grimm. At least we know Jeff Davidson won't be on the staff any longer!

What makes you think rivera is any more qualified than grimm?

Upon reading their resumes I don't like that grimm has never been a coordinator, but I do think is rather have an olineman as a coach than a linebacker.

What happened to all of the Bill Cowher talk? Last I heard he was willing to consider the Giants, Texans, Dolphins and Panthers. It appears Coughlin and Kubiak are going nowhere.

Apparently Richardson was never interested because he doesn't want the hc to be the focal point of the team or something insane like that.

well, i mean it was reported to be from "a source close to Bill Cowher"

not the man himself

After Seifert, I think Richardson will be afraid of retreads. Plus, he's too cheap to bring in Cowher.
As for Rivera, I just really like his aggressive style. He's very consistent at putting together successful defenses.
I've also seen Rob Ryan and Jim Harbaugh's names come up today. Harbaugh would be a great hire, but I doubt we'll get him. I'd say our only chance would be that he played for Carolina in 2001 (sort of) and he'd get to coach Luck again.
I really really don't want Rob Ryan. I think he's the only name I've heard linked to the job that makes me cringe.
