Willie Carmichael showed up over the summer standing a lanky 6-foot-10 and weighing a rail-thin 185 pounds. Since then, the University of Tennessee freshman has been eating. And eating some more. And then eating some more after that.
Im eating a lot of stuff thats high-protein, said Carmichael, a forward on coach Donnie Tyndalls first Tennessee basketball team. Just anything that (UT sports nutritionist) Allison (Mauer) at the food station tells me to eat.
Im eating a lot more than I used to, whatever they tell me to.
He likes to eat, he said with a smile and a laugh, and good thing. Most days he loses track of how many times hes eaten. He checked in at 208 pounds Monday, up 23 pounds a day removed from the start of Tennessees practices last Sunday at Pratt Pavilion.
