Heupel chewed Aguilar out as if he checked that call at the line. I think Halze is shocked that Aguilar did that.
No they called the play, it wasn't checked. Horrible play call and Heupel needs to seriously hold himself responsible. It was a bad throw, he should have put more on it. It is a coach's job to put his players in the best position for success and on that play in particular the coach failed to do that plain and simple.

I think we'll see a significant change in play-calling for the rest of the season. Look for TN to become a heavy run-oriented offense with occasional deep shots and quick sideline throws. Basically, back to the '24 offense where they didn't trust Nico. I think they had a lot of trust in JA up until that play Saturday night.

Exactly what was he supposed to be checking into from that formation. No that was the call.
Yeah Joey threw it to the inside instead of outside but that play never should've been called from the beginning.

Or how about throw the damn ball out the end zone. Not every play is gonna work. Aguilar has to do better with taking what the defense gives him and not blindly throwing to the intended target.

The safety was all on JA also. He had MK open underneath, he just didn't throw him the ball. The RB, Thomas I believe, was also open underneath. He has to take what he can in that situation.

Can’t lose trust on one play. Not throwing over the middle and throwing short screen passes and an occasional long ball isn’t going to do it. We need to run but we need more types of running plays. Need to have the toss sweep and more bootleg plays. Maybe a few options and misdirections. Our D gets killed on misdirection plays and we never try them. Our offense moves the ball, we just got to finish. We can’t limit the offense if anything we need to expand it. I agree we need to run it more and play smarter. But limiting Joey isn’t the answer. Limiting plays is equal to playing scared, we got to execute and expand our look, not limit it.GBO
