Yes, he has connections and knows what a good coach would be from experience. We haven't had a decent football coach since Dickey retired and guess what Doug Dickey was also the last AD we had that coached!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I understand Phil bleeds orange and I can appreciate that. However loving something and being able to competently manage it are two distinctly different things. My concern is his failure and unwillingness to understand and appreciate that the game has changed since he was in charge. We cannot withstand another "old school" hire and hope to return to relevance. Phil won with superior talent, not coaching acumen. We do not have that luxury today so without a rock star who can lure, coach and develop athletes we will be stuck in the mud and doomed to continue in the quagmire in which we have found ourselves for the past decade.

Some of these people claiming Fulmer can't be trusted are nuts!! I don't for one second believe that Fulmer was ok with the coaches they were offering. Lets just watch how this thing plays out and then speculate

I looked into this when they were taking about him for AD. Basically most of Fulmer's good assistant coaching hires were simply promoted from within. When he did have to search for a coach (see:Clawson), the results were pretty dismal.

I'll hope for the best, but I don't think Fulmer is a good judge of coaches (remember all his defense for Butch Jones last season? "Well it's hard to win 8 games") nor a good assessor of what it takes to win at this level any more.
