Can we please stop any playoff talks.

Because I only get to watch Tennessee play football 12 days out of 365. 13 if we’re lucky, 14 if we’re really lucky and so on. Yes, it’s frustrating that we’re not where we want to be this season, but I’m gonna do my best to enjoy the times that I get to watch or go to the games.
Bravo!

I call them the Opt Out Bowls or the 2nd stringer Bowls. Nobody with any future will play, their agents advise against it. Its better than nothing which the Orange & White game has became, basically an autograph session.

Yeah with the opt outs now, it lessens the appeal and it's very difficult to enjoy pickems everybody used to do because you don't know who is playing or opting out.

I think some people still like to follow the playoff talk, even if Tennessee isn't in it. And there are some who won't give up, even if we only have a 3.8% chance (according to the betting odds).

But ok, what bowl do you think Tennessee will go to?

I saw that Brett McMurphy is projecting Tennessee to play Miami in the Gator Bowl.

Some guy from ESPN had us in the Duke's Mayo Bowl against Louisville.

Give us Miami because Beck is the most surefire opt-out I’ve ever seen

Why does anyone care what bowl we are going to be in? It's nothing but a glorified spring game now.
Ah yes, so it's a meaningless game? Let me clue you in on something: this whole thing is a bunch of young guys you don't know -- many of them not even old enough to drink -- running around on a field. All the games are meaningless, so if you're going to care about any of them, why pick and choose?

I care about the games that count towards winning something.

Because we enjoy watching the Vols play anywhere and anytime - but especially when and where it is warm. If the bowl is in Florida, we will go and make it a mini-vacation in the middle of winter. Not only do I care, I am really looking forward to it.
Before the 12 team playoff, kids not playing in the games, so did I, but not anymore.

Because we get to see the young players we'll likely be depending next season.....or we'll identify weaknesses we need to address in the portal.

Every scrimmage, game and rep matters at this point in Heupels career at UT with that beast of a schedule next year.... especially if we end up 7-5 losing to Vandy at home.

Just like the NFL, it's fun in the last three or four weeks of the season to see who plays themselves in and who plays themselves out, even if your team isn't really in the running.

As far as bowl game for UT, I don't know if Duke's Mayo would want UT since we played in Charlotte in the kick off game this year, but they might because of brand recognition.
Citrus against Miami would be cool as well to get exposure in that recruiting area.

My ideal bowl game would see Joey A start and regardless of big lead or not, see G Mac the entire second half.
And let's be honest. When Nico bolted and we couldn't get an established QB to give us the time of day, this season looked mighty depressing until Aguilar showed he could play a bit. To have a shot at 9-3 is kinda crazy if you ask me. 8-4 would be pretty darned good....unless loss 4 is to Vandy. That one game will be incredibly important for Heupel and his future here.

Please explain to me how a bowl game now matters in 2025.
If I have to explain that to you then you are to old. But ok. Extra practices. Don’t know if you understand it or not but practices help the team in many, many ways. Also, TV exposure. A good bowl game gets us good exposure. Recruiting. Recruits more than likely pay attention to things like teams playing in bowl games. And also bowl games are a good barometer of where your team is. Also I would be willing to bet the bowl game matters to the players and coaches. Only dumb fans think a good bowl game is meaningless.

Say we went and played a good bowl game against TX or ND. And we got our butts handed to us. Would you be your typical self and complain about it? Rag on Heupel or Banks or the staff in general? What if we absolutely blew them out? You don’t think either scenario says a lot about the state of our program? Jesus some of you baffled me.
