Can we lay to rest the...

Players made mistakes but in terms of gameplan, motivation, grit etc it was a good effort in a loss. Turnovers will happen, players will always make mistakes but the overall performance of team in that game was good. A single stat doesnt take away from that.

Oh. So it was the players fault.

That single stat (which happens to be one every coach talks about as a key to any game) was the difference in that game.

The individual fumbles were the players fault of course. To me it becomes the coaches fault when a player repeatedly does it game after game and the coaches dont correct it or allow it to continually allow it to negativity affect the team.
This whole coaches / players fault is so stupid, you know exactly what I mean. It's generally a combination of the two. In that game the gameplan prep etc was good. Players were fired up, ready to play...we had a good gameplan. In that case players made individual mistakes and it cost them the game. But overall, the team.performance was good and in position to win the game. If you see that a few times, it makes you think the team as a whole is heading in the right direction and just needs to clean up individual mistakes.
Compare that to games this year, specifically with offensive game plans and players being prepped and ready to plan and hopefully you can see the difference.

It just seems too convenient given some of the previous discussions with players.

It's pretty obvious.

Unless they are Jonathon Crompton for example. Its what you do with these 5 stars....if u can get em.
He needed to get hit to get in the zone. It’s unfortunate that our line was better back then so he didn’t get hit like JG.

I don't think you can lay it to rest, no. But I agree with the OP's premise. I like the idea of good football more than I like the idea of bad football played by extremely talented athletes.

Football is a team sport, but to be fair, there is a lot of room for individual accomplishment. There were a lot of individual accomplishments displayed deep in Alabama's secondary last night.

I like the idea of winning...I dont particularly ca re e hownits done. Out talent or out coach the other team, no matter, just win.
