Can we lay to rest the...

“It’s easy to dominate with 5 stars at every position” bullcrap that some people love to say when discussing Pruitt’s body of work. Bama’s defense has looked like Swiss cheese with those same players. Matter of fact Pruitt was down pretty much all of his linebackers towards the end of the year last year. We have our football coach, let’s let him coach

What else would you call being 14-1 with 13 wins of 20+ points? It is easy, but when talent meet talent, of course coaching can be important.

False.

Pruitt took the worst Tennessee team in history and in year 1:

-Improved the win total, while implementing a new system

-Improved the conference win total by 2 games

-Beat 2 Top 25 teams

-Improved in basically every statistic

-Did all this against a MUCH tougher schedule than the 4-8 team

That’s a good job of coaching, no matter how you spin it.
Wish I could like this more than once. It's a very simply put, accurate, and factual statement. You, sir, made my evening.

Lol.
No. They could have score 80 on ETSU and still finished 5-7.

Bama only hung 50 on the Citadel with as good of an offense as has been fielded. Didnt mean much in the big picture.
If we’d have hung 70 on ETSU, the line moves up to 80.

I was surprised at how dismal Alabama performed! Lines whipped. Looked slow. Paniced. Poorly coached and prepared. You can’t just line up with 5*’s 3 deep and win? How do you look that bad with all those 5*’s?

Ask Rick Barnes. UK, Kansas, Zaga, UNC, etc should be absolutely embarrassed his team of 3 stara have been anywhere with single digits of all those teams.

Except coaching matters, A LOT.

Really hope CJP is taking after Dabo a lot more than Saban. Get good COACHES, win, and the recruiting will take care of itself. All those 5*s doesn't do so much good when you have stinker 1st time coaches.

Clemson hung 44 on Bama last night. They hung 35 on Pruitt when they beat Bama for the Natty in 2017. We puttin' something to rest over 9 points?

Might add that Dabos best assistant doesnt appear to care about being a HC. That's not the norm.

So our opinions are probably not that far off, we just use a different word to describe it?
Not really.

Your chalking up every game that didnt result in a win over a ranked team as a poor performance coming off a 4-8 season where most of that talent that was recruited here by the last cat has graduated, declared, or transferred.

Seen plenty of trash efforts against smaller schools. UMass in 2017 epitomized the reference. Didn’t see that against ETSU or UTEP.

The UTEP score should have been on par with the ETSU score. UAB is the only team that scored less than we did against them this year and we are the only P5 team they played. They gave up 52 to UNLV the week before we played them and 30 to IAA Northern Arizona the week before that. It was as bad a winning effort by UT on offense as I've ever seen.

We didnt perform well in those games, regardless of the outcome.

An example of the opposite would be the TAM game a few years ago. Overall performance was good, just lost.

This year we didnt perform well overall, against cupcakes, against SEC team (-UK and Auburn) or WV. We will point to moments in games liek 2 minutes against uga but we could do that in games last season as well..

The A&M game where we turned it over 6 times?

The second half less the last couple mins against UGA were pretty good. SC was for a half or so.

For a first year given the circumstances it's not what some claim it to be.
His first year like most coaches will be forgotten for that reason. He wasnt getting extended or fired either way.

I agree. In the sec ball and clock control have been ingrained in our minds. Last night Clemsons defense didn't skip a beat.

While I agree with you, it would have been interesting to see what happened had Bama truly committed to the run. they flirted with it, then Tua would sling the ball around and Locksley would get too-cute-by-half in the red zone.

Players made mistakes but in terms of gameplan, motivation, grit etc it was a good effort in a loss. Turnovers will happen, players will always make mistakes but the overall performance of team in that game was good. A single stat doesnt take away from that.

The USC game was a decent effort as well this season.

Yeah some of their playcalling was confusing to say the least.

So Pruitt allowed less points than Tosh while facing a seasoned 1st rounder at QB and WR, while Tosh got to face true freshmen at QB and WR. Cool...

Also lol at “Clemson hung 44”, Dabo could’ve named his score last night. If he wanted to score 60 there was nothing Bama could do to stop him
