CAN WE GET SOME HB?

Milton is awful. The ball to Hyatt, yes he could have caught it. If the ball is thrown on time he walks in. Period. It was late giving the defender a chance to even make a play. Hooker gets the nod from here. Not sure if HB plays another down for UT he looked checked out to me.

I’d check out to if I had all the talent to be successful but not starting because I wasn’t brought in to play by the current staff.

Overall Hooker played well…obviously the Int at the end - he just didn’t see the guy creeping in. But he pla Ted well enough for us to win - better than Milton in my opinion. I do question if the handoff on the 4th and inches was a read by Hooker or a called play. Our RBs had 33 yards on 19 carries so I can’t believe it was a called play but who knows.
It was a called play. He lined up that way from the start. Heupel made a bad call there. You line up and sneak it. No way you do anything else. And I agree with you about Hooker. He played well enough to win.

My god the whole time Hooker was in…disaster.
How many disasters in one game?Get Hooker as far from center as possible.
Did you watch the same game I did?

Is Hooker a top five SEC QB? No. But he was far from a disaster. Led us on 3 TD scoring drives. Milton got a gift TD (blocked punt).

Now, I do not think we have a QB that will lead us to an SEC East Championship, but Hooker was far from a disaster.

Geezus. Hooker play very good today and if started I think we take this one going away. Yet we still have bench him start Bailey post. Milton deserves to ride the pine.
So if Bailey gets his shot and stinks it up. Will the Bailey Brigade go away? You'd think the kid won all the games he played in last year and was benched for no reason.

The Bailey infatuation on VN is so weird. He's too young at this point. Wake up, people. He's a freshman behind two upperclassmen with playing experience. His time will come. Not yet, though. He isn't some QB wizard who will come in and save the day.
So a RS Fr QB in Harrison Bailey with an extremely high ceiling should sit behind two older QBs who couldn’t start for their old teams, because THEY WERENT GOOD ENOUGH, and people should be fine with that. Come on now.

Arrived at Tennessee in January 2020 but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, did not have a spring or a normal summer of preparation … Proved to be one of the top prep signal callers coming out of Georgia … Played in six games with three starts and was 1-2 in those starts … Accounted for four touchdowns.

2020 – FRESHMAN

Played in six games and started the final three games of the year in debut season ... Threw for at least one touchdown in each of his final three games ... Completed 48-of-68 passes for 578 yards, four touchdowns and two interceptions … Completion percentage of 70.6 was tops on the team … Started the season finale vs. No. 5 Texas A&M (12/19), completing all six of his pass attempts for 85 yards and a touchdown ... Started his second straight game and set career highs in completions (14), passing yards (207) and passing touchdowns (two) in first career win at Vanderbilt (12/12) ... Made his first career start in loss to No. 6 Florida (12/5) ... Completed 14-of-21 passes for 111 yards and threw his first career touchdown pass against the Gators ... Played the final two drives at No. 23 Auburn (11/21), leading the Vols down the field for a touchdown on his first drive and finishing the game 7-of-10 for 86 yards ... Played the final two drives at Arkansas (11/7), completing 6-of-9 passes for 65 yards with two interceptions ... Made collegiate debut vs. Kentucky (10/17), seeing action for one drive in the fourth quarter ... Completed one pass for 24 yards against the Wildcats.

Saving Bailey for the next coach. The one who doesn't run a highschool offense. Sadly that will be at a different university.

Hooker is a decent QB, but his play today should tell you that Milton was picked to start before the fall started. Unfortunately for Hooker he turned back into the QB from VT and forced a pass that cost UT the rest of the game. He played well for the most part, but he had never done well is high stress situations. Yes the play call was garbage, with no check down, but never force the pass. As far as Bailey starting, people would be more forgiving because of the youth. He hasn’t been in college for three plus years and struggling. If you are building a program, you play the guy with the highest ceiling and to me that Bailey. He isn’t going to get any better sitting in the beach while Heupels love fest for Milton continues.

. Poor trolling effort and a ludicrous post. He had one bad play, the fumble. The interception was simply a great read and play by the Pitt safety. What is hard to believe is there were 4 morons who agreed with your post. On second thought, this is Vol Nation. Never mind.

Skip to 1:10 HB can run when needed. He also throws a nice catchable ball when he does throw. Right on target and where the WR can handle and catch and then do something after the catch.

A highlight reel against Vandy isn't saying a whole lot. The kid can QB but I'm still not convinced he's the savior the Bailey Brigade makes him out to be

Of course you are completely discounting the fact that the Pitt safety made a great read and play on the ball. Sometimes players just make a better play than you do. If Bailey fit this offense better, he’d be out there. Simple as that. It’s Heupel‘s call and I’m relatively sure he has more experience judging quarterbacks than you do.

That's absolutely right. Bailey should sit, and will sit, behind Hooker and Milton all season. Bailey's supposed "ceiling" will take quite a while before it's reached. But the games are NOW. It's so strange how everybody keeps looking backward for deciding which QB should be playing. The coaches don't care one bit about Michigan or VT. And by the way, who exactly declared that Bailey has this incredible "ceiling"? Oh wait, I know: all the star gazers on VN who heard that the kid was a thing in Georgia HS football. Come on now. Enough living in the past.

The reality is, Milton had good upside for 2021 but seems to have failed the real-world test. Hooker flashed some Dobbs today. He's the starter moving forward. Bailey will only play mop-up this year unless both of the upperclassmen get injured. Those on VN with the giant Bailey man-crush are gonna have to get used to that. He'll be a good player, though. In 2022 or after; then in the pros. If he sticks with us for a few years, he could look like Pickett did today. But, my friend, not yet.

Neither did Peyton, but he seemed to work out okay.
Completely different offenses too. Pro style vs spread with RPO. Peyton wouldn't be the first choice to run this style of offense either. Still trying to figure out everyone's fascination with HB.

Hooker forced the pass regardless of the lies you want to tell yourself. Judging by how Hooker outplayed Milton, who was picked by Heupel to start, shows that a mistake was made. You can lie to yourself and make excuses all you want, but the truth is Heupel went with Milton because he brought Milton in. I can’t fault him for playing “his” guy but it isn’t working out. Yes he does have experience judging QBs, so does every other coach out there, but they still get it wrong.

I agree with everything you said here to a point. My opinion is that if there are only four or five more teams on our schedule that Milton or Hooker can beat, I think that Bailey can beat those same teams also. I really believe the other two have hit their ceiling, and Bailey has not. Build him for the future.

Exactly right about Hooker and Bailey, except I think Bailey will stick around and eventually play. As for Milton, I wouldn't call him "awful" but he has some serious gaps in his game. If he had managed to reach the end zone on that long run instead of lumbering down the sideline and getting caught, this game goes into OT and then who knows where. Anyway, Bailey ain't sniffing the field during competitive play this season, barring double injuries to the other two.
