Because I’m not being a fanboy saying he should start.

I’m not acting like Bailey or Jackson are the savior of the football team.

If Bailey transfers because he feels entitled to starting as a RS freshman QB, another will take his place.

Jackson will be a good one, and hopefully he has years to develop behind an able starter.

I simply don’t understand the absolute Bailey obsession some posters have.

No one said Bailey is the savior of the program. But he is a better qb than either of the guys that played today. Play the best players, adapt your schemes if need be. PLAY TO WIN THE GAME

Dino, you seem like a good guy. BAILEY IS NOT A MAGICAL QB SAVIOR ON OUR BENCH. That's just a mythology generated by the high school recruiting/media industry. Then it gets whipped into a frenzy in echo chambers like Vol Nation. Harrison Bailey is a good athlete with pro football potential, and like so many other RS freshmen across this great land, he needs to grow into the status of what Pickett was today. He will do that, probably with our Vols. But right now, Hooker is ahead of Bailey by quite a bit. That's why he will play in 2021 and Bailey will mop up the meaningless minutes unless both QBs go down.

I don’t know what me being a good guy as anything to do with any of this, but thank you. I do not believe him to be a magical savior at QB, but in my opinion with his youth and potential he has the highest ceiling. If this is year “zero” as many fans want to claim, why not build around your potential future QB and help him grow. The only thing growing with Bailey right now is probably his desire to be somewhere else. Pickett is successful because he was given an opportunity to start at an early stage in his career and look at him now. His growth wasn’t without growing pains, but he grew. Sitting behind two guys that have played for other teams and it didn’t workout and if you watch the film you know what you’re getting with them, doesn’t help this team in the future down the road. Give him an opportunity to grow and develop without having to over come other coaches created bad habits.

Not saying he’d win every game he starts but he isn’t going to get better playing behind other teams washed up QBs. He is young and showed with very little coaching help last year that he is capable. Believe it or not, not ever decision a coach makes is the right one. You seem like you probably slobber all over JG because Pruitt told you. There is nothing wrong with discussing what is holding this team back and that is QB play.

No I was all for JG getting pulled last year for the other QB's. I wanted him gone a long time ago. Feel free to look through the threads last year.
I'm also willing to change my positions on things. Said last week I didn't think Milton did enough to lose QB1 spot seeing how we won and despite his bad passing he was able to get the team lined up and moving without penalties, wanted to see if CJH could correct his habits. He couldn't and in the main thread for today called for him to be pulled.

Another thing, for those of you CONSTANTLY bitching wanting Bailey, and let's be honest, it's bitching and moaning not based in any sort of reality, the fact is we gave up 41 points today, had 14 penalties, and could not stop the pass, those massive problems cost us the game, NOT the QB play.

Yeah, 3 combined turnovers at the position and missing wide open guys has nothing to do with the result.

He played in 6 of 10 games and started the last 3 games last season.....How is that not getting a chance?

Bailey has better mechanics and touch than Milton will ever dream of. I don't know if Bailey is better in practice than Milton or Hooker. With that said he is a better passer than both and we saw that last year and its not even close. He also has more room for growth and has a lot of football to be played. I do think HH is capable much more so than Milton. So I think you go with experience right now and coach the hell out of Hooker and Bailey getting them ready to take snaps. The only thing the other two give you that Bailey doesnt is some mobility. I guarantee he can line up under center and take a snap and get a foot. Other than that we left points on the field a average qb gets. Can't win that way. The Milton experiment should be over as it is proven he can't deliver on game day

Really? Milton should’ve been pulled directly after the overthrow over the middle. He was absolutely horrible minus the one run. Not one ball was thrown well. That pass should’ve been the last straw.

Actually that run wasn't so great, either. Big lumbering stride, he looked like a lineman trying to outrun DBs. He needed to score there. Remember how the announcer called it, then suddenly Milton was tackled and he had to backtrack? We went backwards after Milton got caught from behind and we sorely missed those 7 points. Would have sent the game to OT and maybe a win.

By Monday? Why would he leave in the middle of the season? That doesn’t get him to a new school quicker, doesn’t save eligibility, it just labels him a third-string quitter.

Bailey didnt light it up last year as a freshman. I have no faith he would this year either.

He never got a chance because Pruitt was so conservative. Neither Pruitt or Heupel has given the guy a fair shake. He will go somewhere else and be a baller. That’s what Tennessee does with their qb’s.
I do like Hooker better than Milton but not sure he’s the answer. All I know is I’ve seen Bailey make throws (with limited experience and a small sample size) that the other 2 qb’s can’t seem to make.
I don’t care about arm strength We need accuracy and pocket presence., and I think he will be the best qb of the three if he ever gets a real opportunity.

Agreed. If we put Tech away early. Let's see Bailey some in the second half. Maybe not start the second half because you want the 1st team guys to get as much game time reps as possible but he should definitely get all of the 4th if we come out and take care of business.

No obsession here....we have the wide receivers but we don’t have a pure passing Qb. And that is a shame. You don’t know if Jackson will be a good one no more if Bailey will !!!
