Most of us rant and rave good and bad with emotion. How about a logical approach to all of this? Anyone that has coached for years will understand and should agree.
Unless a proven Head Coach with very probable potential to be a top 5-10 recruiter every year can be hired. In my opinion, Dooley should stay.
Before you thrash me and say how ignorant I am. Please consider some info and be logical. Anyone that is a head coach understands it starts and stops with the head coach. However, you are only as good as your assistants and players!
After watching Dooley's press conference from yesterday. Either Dooley knows is fate is sealed. He is hurting so badly because he knows this team should have turned the corner and won 3 of 4 versus UF, UGA, MSU, and USC. Or, he is emotional about both. He is a person of high character who is passionate about UT, his assistants, and his players!
He didn't throw one single player under the bus yesterday. Instead, he talked about Tiny and others playing their hearts out. He didn't throw Sal and the secondary coach under the bus. Although, he should have.
If Hart was more of the reason Sal was hired, fire Hart. Dooley should get one more year. If Dooley was the primary reason Sal was hired. Dooley took a gamble on an unproven DC and sealed his own fate.
However, Dooley is responsible for the defensive side of the ball and appears to have worked primarily with the offense and special teams.
For years I heard that problems were caused by Majors or Fulmer because they micromanaged their staff. Well, when your team is not performing to their ability. The Head Coach should micromanage their staff to make improvement. If Dooley can't make changes to the D whether Sal likes it or not. Dooley should go whether Hart was the primary reason Sal was hired.
