Can we we beat WV? Yes,of course. Will we beat WV? Who knows,it's a 50/50 game for me.
I can see people thinking we lose this game because we strunk it up last year but players can improve with the right coaching staff. Now I'm not saying its gonna be a blow out or they are world beaters but I think they will be better.
If they do lose it will stink but they were not expected to win anyway in the 1st game of the coav he's 1st season. Plus,SEC games are more important to me.

This is the Kansas game that was referenced earlier in the thread. Kansas was averaging 109 yards rushing through their first three games and had 74 yards on their first drive to took 5 1/2 minutes off the clock. THAT is a template we should follow.

after last year, we should worry about every game. Ask again after we get beat 35-3 on national TV . May I remind you that last years team was the WORST in 120 years and most of them are still playing for UT. OF the 3 drafted into the NFL, Gaulden is the only one that will stick. I could elaborate but in the spirit of pity I will abstain. I wouldn't go if someone gave a ticket .

another thing to consider is how is WVU preparing for us? they're watching tape of previous teams that Pruitt, Sherrer, and Helton coached at with different personnel. they're watching tape of last year's TN personnel. i don't know how much that matters, but it's not like you just plug in a video and "get what you need" from a preparation standpoint.....i'm sure it's a little more difficult than a usual season opener.

Heard an interview with who I think was a Rivals WV reporter. He said they only have 6 scholarship corners and only 1 with in game experience, and he got benched last year.

Thinks Tennessee's best chance is to win a shoot out. Unfortunately I dont trust our offense to go play that style.

YES ..I get it we sucked last year..Bad coaching and players mailing it in...
also a new COACHING STAFF....emphasis on COACH....
These VOLS PLAYERS are hungry and want to learn how to get better and will do whatever it takes....They just needed guidance and direction..which they are getting now...
We will be better on both sides of the ball this year with this COACHING STAFF...

That's not the question the OP asked. Most on here think that the game is winnable...however, given the past decade or so of Tennessee football how can anyone not be concerned about our chances? I have posted that I think Tennessee will win because they have recruited better athletes but that's far from a "stone cold lock". I have also reminded the OP why many fans are concerned - see results of Vandy and Kentucky games last year. No one knows if this coaching staff is any better than the past ones, or if the players are hungry, taking coaching, or anything else - the practices are closed and they have yet to play a game. So forgive us "wait and see" fans who aren't ready to crown a first year HC the savior of the program "before the first snap has even been played."

Maybe because Grier is capable of lighting us up, and he's got the receivers to do it. Duh!

I think it will be a close game, hell we might even win, but WV will put points on the board.

I don't think we've had any WVU fans on the board yet. I may have missed it. Any time we've opened up with a P5 opponent we always have several of their fans join VN to talk about the game. Not this time. Interesting!
