Can Someone Remind Me Why We Are So Worried About WVU Again?!?

after last year, we should worry about every game. Ask again after we get beat 35-3 on national TV . May I remind you that last years team was the WORST in 120 years and most of them are still playing for UT. OF the 3 drafted into the NFL, Gaulden is the only one that will stick. I could elaborate but in the spirit of pity I will abstain. I wouldn't go if someone gave a ticket .

Believe me, you don’t have to remind anyone of us. We were there.

Underwhelming in past seasons.....we've had our dashed expectations rubbed in our face so often by highly compensated ex coaches, whole sides of the ball that seem lost, unmotivated, passive efforts. However it's a new day, a new hope, a new staff.

Not really, you are making us all look bad. And no, nothing you have posted is funny to anyone but you

And you're making yourself look foolish. I and other's found it funny. Now if you choose not to find it funny why not keep your sarcastic comment to yourself? But then again I never find anything you comment on of worth in this forum but then again that's JMHO.

Another Mountaineer fan here. I'm actually an alum of both WVU (undergrad) and UT (grad). I was born and raised in West Virginia, but I now live in Tennessee. I will be at the game, and at least for me, I know I will walk away from this game happy with the result. I just want both teams to put on a show, play great, and leave it all on the field. BTW, this is my outfit for the game!!! Go Vols, Go 'Eers!!!

I gotta admit, if I saw myself wearing that in a mirror, I'd kick my own ass, just on principle.

Dont get me wrong, you do you. But hell you couldn't have worn a shirt for one and a hat for the other or some of the myriad choices.

Welcome to the party

Because it is first game for our HC at that position, DC at that position, OC at that position. We are breaking in a 3-4 scheme in defense and offense is moving away from spread. We do not know what we ll get from QB play. So there will be lots of mistakes and learning on our part.

WVU on the other side will be trying to improve upon what they already have and they know they have a solid QB and good weapons around him.

If this was 4th or 5th game of the season, I think we would know much better but based on the unknowns for us and the knowns for them, they are naturally favored.

It also doesn't necessarily help us(but may not necessarily help or hurt WVU either) that we're opening the season on a road game. Albeit a road game on a neutral site, but a road game of sorts nonetheless.

We could hand off to a walk on tailback all game long and score more than 3 on their defense. Come on man.

Well that wouldn't properly show his divided heart now would it?.
He'd just look like a confused kid dressed for fashion principles, or cool factor rather than a loyal fan and graduate of two separate schools.
Maybe you get too worried about what other people think about that guy you see in a mirror.

Low brow humor IMO

So you show love by hacking up jerseys and mating it with the opposing teams Jersey for what? My point was, that he can most certainly do what he wants but this shows no more confusion in who to cheer for than the myriad other choices to show support of both teams. But I get it, you dont want anybody attacking the new guy, calm down francis.

Look. I know the Will Grier hype is in full effect but he went 7-3 in the Big 12. They went 7-6 overall. Look at their schedule. It was a joke. They lost to every half decent team they played. Their O-Line returns 4 starters. Their O line was overmatched against quality competition. David Sills had 18 TDs against nobodies and didn't catch a single one after Grier went down. The defense struggled all year. They gave up 200+ yards on the ground in the Big 12. That was a healthy West Virginia team at full strength. Lol

Then look at all the injuries and drama we had last season. O line was decimated. Kirkland Out. Jennings Out, Chance Hall Out. No position group stayed healthy throughout the year. Down to third string on the O-line. Kids playing out of position. Incompetent leadership. Shoop couldn't get guys to learn the defense and we don't acknowledge just how terrible of an offensive coordinator Larry Scott was. You all saw it too. Team giving up on the coach because they knew he was gone towards the end of the year. That coaching staff was a cluster.

I just can't see how with a healthy UT team and at least adequate coaching we don't blow these guys out of the water. We brought over a veteran coaching staff with proven ability and I know stars don't tell the story but out of 22 projected starters I want to say about 18 or 19 of these guys are 4 star recruits or better. Over the past four years we've averaged a recruiting ranking of 14.75. Meaning give or take we are a top 15 team talent wise. There is no shortage of talent or experience on this roster. Outside of Will Grier we're leaps and bounds better at almost every position. I don't see why we're dampening our expectations. We can easily win 8 or 9 games this season without the Lyle handicap.
I think the main reason is we couldn't stop the pass even Vandy killed us. My keys to beating them is running the ball effectively and controlling the clock. We'll need over thirty suspect we can't hold them to less than 4 touchdowns because of their strong WR's and QB.

I appreciate your concern for the hacked up jerseys. I can assure you that I still have multiple whole jerseys for both WVU and Tennessee, and if game times on a weekly basis do not conflict, I change jerseys every Saturday to show my support for both schools. My attire for this game has been planned for years, and the jerseys and pants were acquired new so that this game would be the first time ever worn. The outfit represents my love and loyalty for both of my alma maters, and the two states where I have lived the majority of my life, both of which in my mind deserved equal representation. I'm not a confused fan, but an equally loyal fan of both teams who will cheer for every tackle, every score, and I will be both happy for the winner and sad for the loser of this game. I will "do me", as you say. I always have!!! Go Vols, Go 'Eers!!!

We lost to Vanderbilt.....nuff said. Its everyones hope that we replaced Jones with a superior talent (jury out). Hope so. Beat WV and it will draw some attention.

Like I said, I could honestly care less what you do with your money, I just dont get it. You will have to explain your outfit to others, you would have to do so if you wore both at the game, that's all on you. I know it is unpopular to voice opposition to something so trivial, I just dont get doing this, unless you have a child on both rosters. Even then you would have to explain it, if you want to do that all game good on ya, I'd just rather sit and watch the game . But again you do what makes you happy champ.

Question: when you put that monstrosity on, do you punch yourself in the face with your right hand, or your left?

He's not though.

Then again, Lamar Jackson proved you can get a Heisman losing to good teams and absolutely destroying bad teams.
Jackson absolutely destroyed at least one of what was considered to be a good team

Bartender! I'll have what the OP's having!

Seriously though it makes sense to me.

But QB has more impact that any other position.

I 'd feel better if they were only better at long snapper. Lol

I would bet that precious few of us have seen WVU play or have any idea what they have. Until I read Will Grier's name, I couldn't name a player on their team. We won't know what we've really got until we start playing live competition. It is wild speculation when you match up against a team you rarely pay any attention to from another conference and you aren't at all certain of what your own team's got starting out a new season with new coaches and schemes. We can talk with some certainty postgame on the 1st of Sept.
