Can SEC Reverse Suspension for Targeting?

Can they? yes
will they? yes
That is absolutely the worst targeting call ever. No question. the receiver was able to make a 360 turn, and made three steps before contact was made by defender's
SHOULDER. That was a very hard hit, but was a tremendous football play, and should have been ruled a fumble, recovered by Tenn.

They could but they won't...guarenteed!!

The SEC office wants everything to go away, they don't have the balls the ACC office had in calling out it's officials. We have the best conference with the worst officiating and they apparently never have to answer for anything. GBO!

Good call. Solve the problem by making it worse by magnitudes of 1000's.

UT nor Jones can call the officials much less the SEC out publicly. This MUST be done through channels and, yes, in private. Otherwise, all we would have is coaches and schools complaining about officials after every game.

They're human. They'll make mistakes... and I'm someone who screams at the TV relatively often because of missed or unequal calls. This one can and should be corrected.

The ACC gets props for what it did. This isn't as egregious but the replay official should be suspended.

Agree 100%. That crew was inept. All first half the holding by KY was grossly obvious. After Mosely/UT got hosed, look at all the "makeup" calls that were made. Don't know how it works now but in the old days this was basically an admission by the crew that they had blown an important call. With the replays this shouldn't be happening. Hopefully, but doubtfully, the replay official gets sanctioned by the SEC office. We'll never know if it's done but I bet Butch would.

I don't entirely disagree with you but give a ton of credit to UT's DL's for those holding calls. With a big lead, those guys laid their ears back and got after Towles. The officials didn't have much of a choice if they wanted to keep their jobs... and especially after that idiotic call. I suspect they were standing there watching it on the big screen even as it was being reviewed. They were probably as shocked as we were that it wasn't overturned.

Go watch the ending to the Duke-Miami game for possibly the worst multiple non-calls ever.

fyp. They missed at least 3 blocks in the back (I saw 3 obvious and 2 close ones) and a few other penalties. There is no way a play can be run in football at any level of the game for that long without some sort of penalty occuring.

My point, exactly.

Butch should defend his players, Mosley did everything perfect and not only got kicked out the game but is subject to another suspension for doing everything exactly right. The media would be on butchs side and force the sec to admit they were wrong. Butch Uses the word family a lot, have your players back man.

Did you not see Jones lose his mind after the call? What should he do..... Pop a cap in the ref that threw the flag?

This will be unpopular - but I can see why they didn't overturn it. Although he led with the shoulder and hit primarily his chest, his shoulder pad did make contact with the face mask albeit barely. Since the face mask was hit which caused a slight movement in his head down, I can see why they were overly cautious and did not overturn it.

I thought it was a clean hit and the receiver was putting down his foot for the third step so he definitely wasn't defenseless. But, these calls will always go in the favor of the receiver if there is any grey area.

I've gotta disagree. I can completely understand why you would think it though.

That being said, if you rewatch the hit in slow-mo, you can see the receiver drop his shoulders in anticipation of the incoming contact from Mosely. That wasn't targeting, it was a head to head hit that Ky lost, badly.

Receiver was bringing most of the speed/impact to the play as well.

Still can't believe it was Mosely with that hit, 165 pounds soaking wet and all!

Yeah, I gotta say this rule needs to change. Any decision that results in a player being suspended for future games should have some avenue for appeal.

You can start solving the problem by correcting the error. That was not targeting and a player was unjustifiably ejected and suspended.

ACC suspended the Miami-Duke crew.
SEC won't have the sack.

I agree that suspension may not get reversed, however this targeting call has drawn a lot of attention as well as the Duke and Miami game. At least ACC suspended some officials for their sorry officiating.

Bad call and no excuse to get it wrong with the replay also.

They should suspend the refs like the ACC did!

^^^THESE......

SEC front office and SEC officials = Good Ole Boy network at it's best..........

IF it is not subject to appeal then the replay official should definitely be suspended or fired. To miss it at live speed is understandable. To watch the same replays that the rest of the world saw and uphold it... is either stupidity or dishonesty.

So who was the "Replay Official" and how are they chosen? I'm not sure if it is just me but officiating and replays seems to be getting worse every year.

You seriously don't see a difference here? once a game is finished, it's finished. But this effects the next week also.

I see it being far more detrimental to a team to lose a game they should have won by a bad call, than losing one player for half of the next game. You can overcome one, not the other.

Then why do we have any rules? If the officiating is not corrected when errors occur then there is very little credibility to this game.

Hey man, you're preaching to the choir. I'm not a proponent of not undoing the bad, I'm just providing a voice that states why they won't (and didn't).
