Can our QB Jones play like the Houston QB Ward

I love how people act like they know anything about Jones, Dormady, Guarantano etc..

unless you get to watch practice everyday or get to see them in live, meaningful action against an SEC team, stop acting like you know what these kids bring to the table

We have no idea how good they are, and who is better than the other. And please don't talk about high school highlight film....please

But? They show EVERYTHING on those films...not just highlights! :)

If Dormady uses that redshirt year? It'll be for another program. Whoever loses out in the Spring competition will take it as writing on the wall.

I don't know if that is necessarily the case. Whoever loses that competition will be the number 2 (unless JG comes out and is a straight stud and takes the number 2 spot). That means you are a snap away from getting into the game, or the other guy not playing well. You only transfer after you know that the guy that beat you out has the job in the bag.

After Dobbs it should be Gaurantano, or it should be Jones. Dormady doesnt fit our offense very well. Great passer but not a great runner.

Dormady is a great fit for this offense. This offense right now needs a running qb because we have a weak oline. As the line develops there will be less need to have a running qb. Dormady will be an excellent qb.

I've seen players transfer for many reasons. Losing out head to head for a job is a pretty good one. They have an even slate going into Spring, whoever loses out is going to look objectively at their remaining eligibility.

I don't necessarily disagree with you. I think eventually Jones or Dormady will transfer, that's just what happens when you recruit 2 QBs in the same class.

Barring injury Dobbs will be the starter next year. After that there will be an open competition in the spring and over the summer for the number 2 spot. It would be interesting if Jones were to win out that competition if they red shirt Dormady. JG will probably be the number 4 on the depth chart and get red shirted. That leaves us with a Redshirt Sophomore in Jones, a Junior (possibly but not likely a redshirt sophomore) in Dormady, and a Redshirt Freshman in JG (Plus whoever is a new freshman) in 2017. Out of that I would not be suprised to see either Dormady or Jones transfer if the other locks up the starting spot throughout the year.

Hunter Johnson is the number one rated qb coming out of high school and he's all vol. For 2017 that is

JG time when Dobbs is gone

I think you're short changing Dormady Wouldn't count him out, he's not the runner of the others but dude can throw the ball Would really like to see our receivers utilized more

However, as long as we win i'll be happy either way!

Its confusing to me. I like QD. But JG is the #1 DT QB. Then you have Hunter Johnson who is the #1 pro style QB. I dont get it. Does Butch want a true DT or pro style QB?

Personally, I am with you. As long as we win, it dont matter who is behind center. Go Vols!

This offense isn't a one trick pony...they'll orient it to the QB's strengths...better passers will flourish as well as better runners.

What he said. Butch's history shows more pro style QBs starting that DT, before he reached UT. Kind of like Worley with an actual OL.
