No big deal. We've actually had 2 threads on the topic. Just to be clear, we're not trying to keep a lid on anything. One had to be removed because it got so far off topic and flat out dumb, the other one was deleted at the request of the OP.
And the CPF thread is still alive?
if that thread hadnt been deleted, people wouldnt have to start new threads asking about cam clear. makes absolutely no sense to me, unless its a server space sort of thing.
Then I'll go ahead and clarify it for you:
DeerPark12 works in the UTAD and is as reliable as they come. If there was any modicum of truth to Cam being involved, he wouldn't have even posted in that thread. Plain and simple.
Sadly I missed the whole thing. Could you give me a brief on what DP12 said? Don't want to get things started but just wondering.
False rumor, spread by Basilio.
There were items stolen from a couple of players' dorm rooms, and a couple of non-athletes were caught on video and will be facing charges for the thefts.
Basically said it was a completely false rumor spread by Basilio. Several players did have had their laptops stolen, but it was by non-athletes and they were caught on surveillance tape.Sadly I missed the whole thing. Could you give me a brief on what DP12 said? Don't want to get things started but just wondering.
So will there be consequences for Basilio if/when this is finally resolved or will he somehow skate?
Legal consequences? Probably not.
For a defamation against the media in TN, not only would Clear have to prove that the statement was false (might be harder than you think) but also that the false statements were made with malice (meaning an intent to harm, incredibly difficult to prove) AND that Clear was in some way damaged by this. The third prong, damage, would be incredibly difficult to prove because Clear is an NCAA student athlete and is not making money off of his name and or reputation.
There are other routes that could be taken such as false light, that does not require damage, or Intentional Infliction of Emotional Distress, but in this case they are all flimsy (at least with the little information we have about any of this).
That whole free speech thing in the first amendment goes a long way to protect speech made by the media. Sometimes it might seem unfair, but to be able to prosecute every wrong statement would have a chilling effect on the media's ability to report any sort of news.
This situation should clear itself up in a couple days per Basilio!
No, that was actually Cam Clear too. Dooley tried to cover it up by deleting the thread. If you don't believe me, Basilio broke this story as well. He's my #1 inside info guy outside of Hyams.Excuse me, weren't you the one who waltzed into this message board and started this dumpster fire, complete with "Dooley is to blame" side commentary?
