Cam Clear Arrested (merged)

Does this really have to turn into a Memphis issue?

I just don't see where all this we have to have memphis talk is coming from. Memphis cranks out a few studs a year, but alot of them do not transition well when they go to UT. Cam getting in trouble is not going to effect UT in Memphy.

When Tickle speaks, we should all pay attention!
Better or....

Pal you should be used to it by now on this forum, some of it I agree and some I don't.

I am. But it just amazes me how a kid from a city does wrong and next the whole city is to blame. You and I drive six hours for a football game, we are loyal fans from a city that is constantly barraged with hate by others from within the state. I don't get it. The players that held up the pilot, no one said, don't recruit Florida or Louisiana or Ohio. But since its Memphis jump all over us. Ignorance I guess.

There has been players from all over the country to have issues at UT. Ever heard of the Fulmer Cup? Did it consist of only Memphis players?

Actually, everyone knew Nukeese was a thug because of where he was from in Florida.
Truth is, Memphis may not be all thug, but it produces so many it deserves the reputation.

I am sure you know this, but for general FYI:

TCA 39-14-105 (theft) illustrates (in part):

Class A misdemeanor if $500 or less (max 11 months 29 days).
Class E Felony if $500 to $1000 (standard 1-2 years)
Class D Felony if $1000 to $10000 (Standard 2-4 years)
Class C Felony if $10000 to $60000 (standard 3-6 years)
Class B Felony if $60000 or more (standard 8-12 years)

If you enter a habitation to commit a felony act, or theft it is considered aggravated burglary per TCA 39-14-403 and is a Class C Felony.

I hope his attorney can make good use of TCA 39-14-107.

I'm feeling ambivalent about all the good wishes for Mr. Clear. Hate to see one of our players become a negative statistic. But as often as burglaries and thefts go unsolved, do we really want someone who got caught to get a slap on the wrist and another scholarship at another university? If the evidence proves his guilt, shouldn't he do serious jail time for such a serious crime?

Putting people in jail for non violent crime is moronic.

Make him give his NFL signing bonus to the victims. That's more just than locking him up.

If guilty yes. But that rarely happens, hence plea deals with lesser charges

I am a firm believer that the justice system becomes a mockery when it is unevenly enforced. If (and that is a big IF) Clear actually did the things that are being speculated, then there should be no quarter given. Everyone says that "these are just kids" and that enforcing the law will ruin them. Sadly, not enforcing the law will teach many more that there are no repercussions for wrong doing.

But, beyond an arrest all is speculation at this point. I have also learned that the government cannot always be trusted to come to the correct conclusions. Far too often (any time more than once, is far too often) the government at every level, will rush to indict the most visible person that they can in an effort to seem efficient at enforcing the law.

DISCLAIMER: I am not saying this happens even the majority of the time, but it happens enough that it should raise some critical attention and has taught me not to rush to judgement. The framers of the constitution were really smarter than most give them credit for.

You can't assume he will be a NFL player. And if he isn't.....what do the victims get then? An I'm so sorry, I'll never do it again,
