Calling the Fulmer Apologists

Mike Hamilton says the UT fanbase wasn't loud enough in Bryant-Denny yesterday....and please donate more cash.

When Tenn actually sends it's varsity FB team instead of it's intermural all-stars, they will come.

Chavis will probably get the axe and be Foolmers scape goat just like Sanders was. Then he will move on and be totally dominate and turn a team around like Sanders has. Woodson KY QB said that after SAnders arrived the offense was wide open. Shows who has the raines up their in K- town.

It will take millions to buy out Fulmer and his staff of incompetents---the big money boosters are going to have to get some big money together.

the buyout is only $6.5 million. Chump change even after the extensions.

it is not about the money (regarding the buyout). it is about the buddy system that is going on at UT.

The buddy system went out the window when Hamilton came in. Ask Delmonico.

i was one of those optimistic fans that backed Fulmer after the Florida loss. I thought "we were back" after the UGA game. At this point, I have to concede and say you're right. Losing to our two biggest rivals by 24+ points is inexcusble. And even if we do finish the season at 9-4 (best case scenario for them right now) with a trip to the chicken bowl, I will be very disappointed, especially when we our offensive personnel has SO much potential. It truly is a shame. I would give Fulmer one more year to at least win the east.

I disagree with most of that.

1) We were back after the GA game - No way. We've been on a slow downward spiral since the NC (1998) with about only two good years of football. We aren't going to turn around an eight year trend in two weeks, no way.

2) I know you were just saying the best case scenario we have at least one more loss, more than likely two or more.

3) Fulmer doesn't deserve another year. His deserve-another-year was 2006 and 2007 after the a$$ beating we took in 2005. He's done for, stick a fork in him. He has NO more chances in my book.

I like this from govolsxtra:

When Fulmer's back is to the wall, he steers the ship out of the reefs, we quit taking on water, and the crowd says, "Hooray! We're back in business!" But then, just about the time that UT starts pumping water over the side and recovering from the previous blunder (cue Jaws music), we're back at it again. Off into the dang shoals grinding and scraping. A captain who repeatedly steers the ship into the shallows, shoals, and reefs must be relieved. I hope that he'll be a Volunteer and step aside. It's time.

If USC beats us this week (and especially if it's lopsided), I think he has to go. He's had plenty of chances to beat his rivals, and their coaches are owning Fulmer. I just don't see a logical argument for keeping him.

I think UK is overdue to beat us - if that happens, I won't hold it against the staff as much as if USC beats us. Going 0-3 against Spurrier, Meyer and Saban doesn't bode well, especially given Fulmer's record against those guys in the past.

Am I the only one sick and tired of Will Overstreet ("I love those coaches over there." & "We had two freshmen starting as DB's." Will, game 6? frosh no more or is it development?) Pat Ryan, geeze, I thought he had guts! Maybe there TV contracts are contigent upon who is head coach? Coaches are very complacent and satisfied with their life at this point. Buyouts will flush them for a long time so, they are half-assed coaches with too much "weight" and huberous! Overpaid, absolutely!

Welcome to the board. Unfortunately football futility brings new membership, so if we won every game we would have somewhere around 3 members.

I grew up getting beaten by Bama even when we had more talent. I was there when we snapped the streak and tore down the goalposts. I see us heading back into another long losing streak. Phil is no match for Saban.

phil is no match for anyone

just to show you how bad it's gotten, consider the following quote from danny sheridan, in finebaum's saturday column: "Alabama is void of talent because of Mike Shula, and some clever lawyer should file a class-action suit against him to recover most of the $10 million paid to him. It's going to take (Nick) Saban at least three years to get this program to the upper echelon of the SEC and to be an equal of Auburn."

add to that the fact that five of the bama players were suspended before the game and you would reasonably expect that with a typical tennessee team, the actual score would be reversed, right?

I wish CPF had the guts to say that, maybe show some emotion out there, rip a guy a new one when he screws up! I know that isnt his style and he is going to stay the course until the ship hits an iceburg and we all go down! Time for a change on the hill! Wake up MH!!

I've seen him rip into players this season (and even on Saturday).

He looked like he wanted to hit Xavier Mitchell after a personal foul call.

that one stood out and when he ran across the field to get McCoy after his attempted lateral. Just leads me to believe it happens more often than fans get to see in a broadcast

Oh for the love of God, will you give it up already? YES. You were right all along! You have been perennially correct from birth, okay? You're worse that that Bammer child who was on here gloating yesterday.

I have an idea for your a new user name for you: Schadenfreude. It means "A malicious satisfaction obtained from the misfortunes of others."

You and your negativity are about as useful as a screen door on a submarine.

Vols,
You really need to check yourself in the mirror and take off the orange and white glasses. If you think your team doesn't have a problem that is obvious to everyone else, then you really are an apologist. And chastising Rex for being brutally honest and stating the fact is hardly right. I have known Rex and he is the biggest Vol fan and supporter I know. He is truer orange than the Great Pumpkin himself. UT should take a look around the landscape and see how longevity takes on a precedent, i.e. Penn State, FSU, etc.

Ultimately, the first step is to admit you have a problem. :)
