California Lunacy Thread

If the population was rioting and attacking law enforcement, and the gov refused to do anything? You're wrong. States have rights. They do not have the right to ignore an insurrection.
this is even less insurrectiony than Jan 6th. nothing being done is a threat to our government or constitution.

yall are exhibiting the exact same Dem mindset during Covid. "the government MUST do something." "Muuuuhhhh, the government has the power." Probably won't be long until yall are claiming some bs like "If it saves even one life" to justify the government giving itself far more power than it should have. I mean yall already have the "send people to concentration camps" bit down.

What State Right is he ignoring? The federal government had always had the right and duty to protect federal facilities and personnel. This all started with „protestors“ trying to block or storm ICE detention facilities.
Same as when the dems in 1861 tried to take Fort Sumpter in Charleston harbor
with an organized military, an organized government body, and after months of formal negotiations?

nope. that cop isn't an elected official, or someone who could change our constitution.

cops are attacked every day. dealing with violent civilians is literally in the job description. considering these aren't some special "crap hit the fan" task force, if the risk is covered in their typical duties its hard for me to call it insurrection.

If it was left up to democrats they would have had all law enforcement stand down and today Los Angeles would have block after block of looted burned out buildings including several federal buildings.

and at some point the people would get tired of it and vote for change.

remember what happened in the Canadian election? a right leaning person was winning handidly, and then Trump inserted himself, and the socialists ended up winning.

same thing here. before Trump inserted himself this was a mess on the California dems. it was ugly and terrible, with no way to blame anyone else. but trump inserting himself gave them the easiest lightning rod to divert some of the blame, and make themselves look better.

I have friends in America who think our current government is idiotic. Cool story, eh?
I get the point completely........ But with Canada I think it's much more polarizing if that's possible. Most of the country lives in the big cities. By and large they love their government.

The rest of the country is mostly to very rural. Some of those laws make zero sense for them and they have access to virtually non of the things their government taxes them for, they despise their government.

How do you reconcile TACO and Fehr Trump is a existential threat to our democracy?
Fair question. What he says scares the crap out of me. Should scare anyone who doesn't want an autocracy. But you're right, as what he actually has done (other than J6) has been less of an existential threat.

All Hail TACO!

Agree to disagree. I think most of Los Angeles and California are to for gone to the left they don't see anything wrong.

The administration had to do something or we were going to see ICE agents killed. Mayor Bass at her pc last night had a woman speaking telling people phone numbers they could call to report seeing ICE vehicles & personal so counter measures can be rushed to that location.

We don't really care what you call it.

It could be argued this isn't just an attack on officers. It's an attack on the rule of law. And without that no government can operate.

The only thing lacking in this conversation is your common sense. There is an uprising in one of our cities about deporting violent illegals aliens and you suggest a free pass to destroy property and cause chaos.

Bullsh*t.

ICE was so pressed to find people to arrest that they targeted day laborers at Home Depot. Day laborers, not violet people.

THIS was the primary cause of the riots, dude. Your boy Donald is a liar incarnate.... surely you know that by now.

So? Resistance to federal authority is a good thing. It's best to resist peacefully but I have no problem with people resisting federal authority.

What I love about this is the Dems have started clamoring for and leading the charge on states rights.

Illegal is illegal where they are makes no difference to me.

In response to that, can't the fed just inform California that they can kiss their federal aid adios?

Granted maybe the CBC doesn't very well reflect the vibe of the rural west, but I watch their news every now and then and I don't get the sense that, as a whole, the country is as polarized.

And we also saw this:
remember what happened in the Canadian election? a right leaning person was winning handidly, and then Trump inserted himself, and the socialists ended up winning.
(*they aren't socialists) but the Canadian electorate is more concerned about Trump than they are the ideological differences between their own two main parties.

sure, grass root version is good, but this is rioting, so in your opinion the federal government should not do its job as described in the constitution?
