i don't see them being over confident for this game next year and even if they are, they will be excited just to be playing an actual game and not themselves in a scrimmage. i think they had a little bit to do with it last year, they were just so excited and ready to play last year, we just destroyed them

I think he's gone, and I also think his backup might be gone. It doesn't matter, the third QB is also horrible. Jerod Mayo will do him a favor and give him amnesia, so he won't remember the embarrassing loss.

Last year, Cal came here filled with hype, preseason top 10, legitimate shot at Pac-10, offense guru Jeff Tedford, Lynch, how many Cal defensive starters came back, how many Tennessee lost, blah, blah, blah. I saw their players jump up and down, yelling "Pac-10, Pac-10" during the warm up. Tennessee surely destroyed the Cal hype. Hell, I hope we would not fall into this kind of preseason hype again. I went to some Georgia site, one dude already "predicated" UT SEC east champion next year, I was like: :twocents:

No one needs to mention Lynch and anything negative. He had like 10 carries for 75 yards. We didn't shut him down. They got very behind and had to stop running the ball, otherwise, I suspect it would have been more of the same.

Not really, he had pretty equal running in both halves I believe.

i can see where people might think we will go into this game with a lot of hype on our end but UT is still not that far removed from a 5-6 season and i would be willing to bet that Fulmer & Co. will not let them forget how much hype that were getting going into '05 and i would imagine that will be a focus for the staff to remind the team they haven't done anything until they prove it on the field

We will dominate Cal. Our talent is so much deeper than there's it's just rediculous I can't believe all of these people were saying their talent was better than ours last year. Ainge will throw 250, Foster and Coker will combine for 200 (because we'll have our running game back) and we will finally be 100% healthy like the beginning of last season. Just trying to be optimistic is all. :)

Cal returns 8 offensive starters, I believe.

I think they return 6 on defense, maybe 7.

Tedford didn't run Lynch nearly enough...

Tedford has brought Cal a long way, but they still have a long way to go. They can be tough, but it comes very inconsistently.

Hat is correct though, if they play anything like they did at the end of their Pac-10 stretch, and we don't have the game in the bag by the end of the first half, we're gonna have one hell of a road to hoe in the SEC.
